This story is a sequel to Shopping Trip

Pinkie Pie's hunger for all things genealogy has turned up a bit of an oddity. Perplexed, she sets out to to talk to the only pony who could possibly have the answers: Octavia Melody.
However, there's a reason that Octavia's family history is a big secret. It's a secret that has been guarded and hidden for a long time, and Octavia isn't about to reveal it to the loudest-mouthed pony in Equestria. She'll have to be quick on her hooves to keep Pinkie from finding out the truth but still managing to quench her curiosity.

NOTE: Like the actual episode, you will NOT be told for certain what the secret is. There are hints however.

Even alicorns need vacations sometimes, and Luna is taking hers. In the guise of the humble page Night Vision, Luna walks the castle halls. It will be a night of ink stains, mismatched plates, an oblivious musician, and spectacular hoofball goals. But most of all, it will be a night of fun and friends.

Directly inspired by Fizzy Orange's brilliant story 'Luna's Pet Project', which you should all go read immediately.

You do not need to know anything else about the Lunaverse to understand this story, although reading Fizzy's story as a prequel is highly recommended.

Octavia and Harmonia Philharmonica were on their way to Manehattan, ready to fulfill their duty as granddaughters and visit Nana. Vinyl Scratch and her brother Long Play were traveling back home from a concert in Canterlot, the first that Vinyl had ever attended. Pure serendipity facilitated these pairs' first meeting.

Octavia's day had started out as routine as any other. Wake, play at some garden party, eat and then come home. How then, did she end up here in the Everfree, fleeing from a monster intent on killing her?

The thing about Vinyl and Octavia that most ponies notice straight away, is just how differently they talk. Octavia is prim and proper, a mare of class, and Vinyl... isn't. Unfortunately, this contrast just gave Vinyl an idea.
