Scootaloo has a wonderful adult life. She dates Sweetie Belle, she flies with Rainbow Dash and she keeps in touch with her family. But one thing still looms over her: she is adopted, and she has no idea who her biological parents are. She will stop at nothing to find them.

Yet another failed attempt at a new stunt lands Rainbow Dash in the infirmary once again. She is patched up and sent on her way, but as she is leaving the Ponyville Hospital, she catches glimpse of Scootaloo sitting alone in the waiting room, injured and upset.

Taking a seat beside her, she finds out what is wrong, plus something quite shocking and disturbing.

Rainbow Dash did it again, she took her pranking antics too far. Fluttershy has had enough and arranges for another one of their "appointments" together for Rainbow to learn her lesson. Unfortunately for Rainbow Dash, this often leaves her with a sore backside.

On a dark night filled with even darker magics, an insane cult attempts to give Nightmare Moon a body and life of her own, utterly separate from Princess Luna. But, when the spell is interrupted by Celestia, something unexpected is created.

Now, a little black alicorn filly named Nyx finds herself living under the care of Twilight Sparkle, only to be haunted by memories and emotions from her past. Is she Nightmare Moon reborn or is she simply a doppelganger with a soul and mind of her own? Can Twilight Sparkle protect Nyx from those who refuse to see past her dragon eyes and black coat?

Or, will Nyx be forced to inherit the sins that may not even be hers and become the greatest evil Equestria has ever known?

The night is long, it can be dark and cold with only the slight comfort of the moons light and the stars shine. Tonight, Nyx is unable to find her footing in the realm of dreams, she reads books and drinks milk but tonight she can't seem to sleep. And what a beautiful night to lose some sleep over.

Written mostly out of my own frustrations involving my lack of active writing this year, and the sloth that has filled my life the last few months prior to this fics publishing.

Warning: POV shift toward the end, and I have a reason I will not divulge for fear of spoilers. You're all smart, try to think about how our narrator knew all this was happening.

But when peculiar dreams and even more peculiar phenomenon put Apple Bloom as far away from high school as she can be, it looks like the end of her life, not the beginning.
