After having learned of the joys and amazing potential of Cardboard Boxes for herself, Autumn Blaze decides that she must share this discovery with her village.

It ends with a declaration of war.

Written for the Quills & Sofa's "Expanding Universes" Prequels and Sequels event. This story is my extension on the original story A Kirin in Cardboard by TheLegendaryBillCipher. While reading Bill's story is not necessary to understand this one, it will provide some measure of context and you should just read it regardless because it is quite good.

A generation ago the three tribes of ponies joined together in harmony after the discovery of the new land of Equestria. But even years later this land is still largely unknown. The leaders of the ponies decide that an expedition to travel and learn about their new home is needed.

Twilight Velvet's son Shining Armor is about to leave for Royal Guard training. On this quiet night, she reflects on her choices as a mother, regrets she has had with her son, and her own inner demons. But her son will be the key to silencing those demons.

Shining Armor leads a wonderful life with his wife Cadence and daughter Flurry Heart. But he doesn't get back home to Canterlot much. So when his mother calls him home to visit, he's eager to go. Until he learns the reason why she called him. Everything he's known about his family is shattered in an instant. Luckily, his mother is there to comfort him.

Slight regression, but not too much. It's reasonable.

Luna has been the keeper of dreams well before her banishment, and after a thousand years of absence and unchecked nightmares, she makes a vow to herself to continue helping ponies to the best of her abilities.

Despite Starlight's raw talent for magic and Sunburst's studious nature, they fall flat in the face of self-doubt, unresolved issues and finally coming to terms with their feelings for one another. All that their magic is good for is to dance around the issue, making it pretty useless. (Otherwise known as "Ten ways to say I love you.")
