Trixie's life was going perfectly fine. Better than fine. She has everything she had and more...until she finds herself the target of mysterious pursuers in black suits that seem dedicated to capturing her no matter what the cost. Now Trixie must begin unraveling the mystery of who these strange ponies are and what they're truly after.

Can Trixie stay free? Or will her pursuers make her a marionette hanging on strings?

Ocellus confesses her horrible crimes to Counselor Trixie. Counselor Trixie seems less than impressed.

This story was going to be my entry in the 179th Writeoff contest, "I've Waited so Long for This...." But that was a minific contest, and I quickly realized this was gonna end up being way too long.

So I thought I'd enter it in the Original Pairings group's Speed Writing contest since I don't find many stories where Ocellus meets Pony Joe...or Donut Joe or Joe the Donut Pony or whatever name he goes by these days. But when Trixie shoehorned her way in to such a large extent, I abandoned that idea as well.

Here it is now, though, but not on my Baal Bunny account where WriteOff-related stories go as a rule. Because this is all about breaking the rules!

Some realize that Trixie is not the first to bear the title of The Great And Powerful.

Few realize that it is less a title and more a curse.

The one who kills The Great And Powerful shall ever after be cursed to become The Great And Powerful.

On a related note, Twilight Sparkle is having a very bad week.

It's a few weeks until Twilight Sparkle assumes the throne of Equestria, and Ponyville's come out in style to celebrate their homegrown Princess!

And after a whole day of songs, food, dancing, and entertainment, Trixie's on-hoof for the final act of the night. One last, blowout performance to win the hearts and minds of the ponies who once mocked her. It will be great. It will be powerful.

Let's just hope everypony survives.

It's a good thing she doesn't have history she'd rather not see come to light and secrets she'd rather keep buried. Nor did she claim to have stolen a book once to the only pony in town obsessive enough to do a lot of digging.

Assuming everything is exactly how she imagines, all she has to do now is hold on to her new life.
