Well, that’s the next point I thought about. Ruben. I had feelings for him, that’s unquestionable. But is it even right, is it possible to have true feelings for a robot? Because that’s what he was, after all. A robot, a toy to get me into Nick’s net. But on the other hoof, he was more than just a silly clone, even Nick said that. He was able to learn and feel, and that last time I looked into his eyes, I knew that it was true. So what to do? Should I mourn him? Or should I just live my life like before, acting like he never meant something to me?

Octavia is a polite mare on her way up to fame as a cellist. She was brought up in a strict manner in order to be the perfect member of a perfect family. It was an annoyance at times, and she felt trapped. Of course, Octavia rebelled against it; her family knew what was best and what kind of pony wouldn't want to be perfect?

One day, she meets a homeless mare named Vinyl Scratch and immediately takes her in and asks her to be her servant. Vinyl opens Octavia's eyes, telling her that she's capable of making her own decisions, and that her family simply needed to accept her.

After a concert in Manehattan, Octavia overhears somepony calling her a fillyfooler and gives a heartfelt, somewhat drunk, curse-filled speech regarding it.

Vinyl Scratch lands the biggest gig she's ever played, but things quickly head south when she meets Octavia. Feeling the need to pay her back for her trouble, Octavia offers money, but Vinyl only accepts friendship.

Octavia is losing her classical mojo, causing her producer to try somewhat of a last ditch effort and pair her with a composer of a different kind of music. She later finds out that they too are losing their motivation, but also something a little more important.

Just a little short story about Octavia and Vinyl Scratch practicing their respective instruments… in the same room. Which, for anypony who knows them, obviously will lead to… problems.

The name also has a double meaning because I’m practicing. Practicing writing that is.

This is my first story posted on Fimfiction, and is mostly only just practice as I said. It is also to figure out how posting a story even works!

This story concept could very easily have already been used by someone on this site or beyond. However, if this is the case, I have not ever seen it. So sorry if I seem to be copying someone. It’s entirely accidental.

I’m not a huge shipper of Octavia x Vinyl, but I do passively ship them. I’ve been reading a lot of fics about them lately and decided write some myself. That way, if I screw up, I won’t ruin one of my favourite ships!
