Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship, Princess Celestia's most faithful student, has a secret, a secret that could very well get her executed. She is the leader of a group of powerful unicorns- Trixie Lulamoon, Sunset Shimmer, Starlight Glimmer, and herself. The four of them are bent on overthrowing the princesses and ruling Equestria together, and they sure don't care about taking the throne peacefully. The only thing that matters is power, and they will do what they have to get it. But for Twilight, leading the group isn't easy: She is watched closely by Princess Celestia herself, and has five close friends from who she must keep her secret. But nothing has ever stopped her from defeating her goal, no matter what. And nothing is about to change that now. But she must remember: Anyone can betray anyone.

After a bit of prodding from her friends, Scootaloo has decided that it's high time she learned to fly, with none other than Ponyville's premiere flyer as her instructor.

Hey, I'm Sweetie Belle, and this year at school is pretty much going to be the best ever. I mean, it has to be, since if it isn't, my friends will all leave me as soon as they get their cutie marks. Also, I have to deal with Diamond Tiara being in one of my classes, and she's pretty much as terrible as always. Plus, the teacher for that class is a big mean jerk. Oh! And apparently I'm not good at acting, making the list of things I am good at exactly zero. But besides the fact that my friends are probably going to leave me, my acting class hates me, and I'm not really good at anything, everything's great. It has to be. After all, this is the best year ever.

Long ago, Celestia sealed her sister into the moon. Her subjects, however, began to fear her and the elements she wielded, seeing they could be used on anypony. Heart broken, she fled her kingdom, leaving it to the ponies who inhabited it.

A thousand years later, Equestria is predominantly under the control of Earth Ponies. Industry thrives and magic is considered a thing of fantasy; Big Macintosh always thought this himself. However, his life is soon to turn around, and he will find himself on an adventure like no other.

Scootaloo enjoys a comfortable life with her friends in Equestria. Even though her parents are gone, she has a caring neighbor to look after her and good friends to keep her on track. Desperate for her cutie mark, she joins the Cutie Mark Crusaders in assisting Ponyville's citizens, in hopes of discovering her special talent. But when a new colt shows up at school, Scootaloo knows that something doesn't add up. He seems friendly enough, but are colts supposed to have coats and manes that change color? And when she investigates, she gets herself in more trouble than she bargained for. Even with all the Crusaders' ingenuity at her disposal, it may not be enough to help her out of a dangerous situation.
