What is friendship?

Is it a term or something so much more?

And can you be a friend to something so different but so similar to you?

Something that I'm sure has been done to death but, since reading East of Eden, I wanted to do something a little more thought provoking. I got the idea while I was alone in my house, with just the sound of a clock ticking to keep me company.

Everypony believes Princess Celestia has always been distant, aloof and dispassionate, but that's far from the truth. She cares very deeply for her ponies, and a tragic mistake long ago made her realize she's not perfect. Since then, she's been careful, nearly over-cautious, until a mother's plea gives her the opportunity to redeem herself in her own eyes, and save another, who becomes a very special pony, one who reminds the Princess that anything is possible, even forgiveness.

Set in the universe of Nathan Traveler's Omnius' Travels: Equestria. Omnius/Nathan/Sean appears with his author's permission.

One dark night, Celestia tells her sister how she truly feels. She may be locked away in the moon, but Celestia feels nothing can stop her from telling Luna how she's felt.

When filly Twilight asks Celestia to tell her a bedtime story, the Princess is not prepared for the many memories that float to the surface once she is asked this. She mainly remembers a small filly just like Twilight, who also asked for bedtime stories many years ago.

When a young Cadance's parents pass away, she is left alone and scared in the world with her new found alicorn hood. Confused in her sorrow and anger, Cadance doesn't know what to do.

Until a ray of light shines through the storm clouds...

Princess Celestia will always regret that she could not do more to save her sister from the Nightmare. Until the day she finds some way to save her, she refuses to sleep. But one thousand years is a long time to honor a love that was destroyed by jealousy.

Celestia has been woken by nightmares of her sister's banishment for a great many years now. She's used to comforting herself back to sleep on these nights. But maybe that's not what she needs.

An unexpected visit from her new student, Twilight Sparkle, may prove to be more helpful than she would have thought. Sometimes, we just need a few kind words and the presence of a friend to make things better.

It's springtime in Equestria and Twilight Sparkle and Princess Celestia find themselves out of sorts despite the gorgeous weather. Luna and Rarity both think they know the reason behind their moodiness and set out to make sure that true love blossoms - but will an unfortunate misunderstanding keep the two star-crossed lovers apart forever?
