Missions and Bearer responsibilities can mean spending a lot of time away from loved ones, and that's one of the reasons Rainbow has brought Tank (the most awesome pet ever!) along with her to the Trottingham fair. Sure, she'll be stuck at the Meet A Wonderbolt booth for the whole weekend while the rest of the team actually does stuff, but at least she'll have company. And since being at the booth gives her the chance to sleep in, Tank can just use his rotor to go out and grab her some breakfast. Besides, even if something happens to go wrong along the way like, say, having the rotor leaking glow, it'll all work out. Ponyville's perfectly used to this sort of thing.

This isn't Ponyville.

And Trottingham's residents can be a little... off.

Shortly after her and her friends' victory over the smog-spewing dragon that threatened Ponyville, Rainbow Dash arrives at the Golden Oak to show off some new Wonderbolt Memorabilia she got recently. But when asked where she got the money for it, that leads to a somewhat lengthy chat with her friends.

Since filly, Twilight has been taking an extra class after her regular classes at Princess Celestia's Gifted Unicorns school. But there was a detail: she never showed her friends the clothes of her extra class.

As Rainbow is somepony very close to her, she decides that Rainbow will be the first to show her the outfit that she kept for many years. The comment Twilight receives from Rainbow was not what she expected.

But as they enjoy their get together, Rarity notices that it's more than just the flu that's making Sweetie Belle uncomfortable. A casual conversation turns deep as a major truth is revealed.

Speed Reader may only be a temporary product of a fusion spell brewed by Dash and Twilight, but she's still got the Wonderbolt Barracks to herself for a whole half hour before she splits again. Just long enough to tangle with someone whom her halves would most certainly kick to the curb if either of them were in control.

But they're not in control. Speed Reader is. She can read ponies like books, and Lightning Dust is after something in the archives. Something important.
