No one ever wants to fight for the Rebels during reenactments of battles from the Equestrian Civil War; they're the bad guys, and they always lose. When Spike is placed on the Rebel side yet again so that Twilight can continue to win, he enlists the help of Starlight Glimmer and several thousand other ponies in launching a protracted reenactment conflict which will finally allow him to prove his worth and triumph over Twilight and the rest of his friends. This story is complete with enough Civil War humor to make Fredricksburg look like Sharpsburg.

Realizing she hadn't tried to serve dinner once post-reformation, Starlight Glimmer decided to end her unintentional "streak" and made dinner for Princess Twilight, Spike, Eric Reed, and a visiting Sunset Shimmer. Being the big-hearted pony she is, Starlight was proud to do something for her friends, and her huge grin proved it.

It was just too bad her dinner, which she dubbed "Glimmer Surprise", looked and smelled horrendous.

This story is one of a still-growing series of stories that all take place after A Giant Adventure to Equestria. However, it is not necessary to read any of them to understand this story, but "A Giant Adventure to Equestria" does show the details of how and why the human OC Eric Reed is in Equestria

After an accident while flying in Twilight's balloon, Starlight finds herself on an uncharted island. Assuming the island to be uninhabited, she tries to sort her situation out only to discover that she isn't completely alone as a mysterious pony comes to her aid.

One day after talking with Starlight, Spike begins to glow most unusually. He quickly realizes that this is the call of the dragon lord, and that means he is needed in the dragon lands again.

Not willing to send the dragon off on his own, Twilight decides have to Starlight go with him, hoping the change of scenery will help her student get over her recent failure to redeem Queen Chrysalis.

But upon arriving in the dragon lands, Spike and Starlight discover that Dragon Lady Ember is facing a challenge to her authority in the form of Garble, and the possibility of war looms overhead. To make matters worse, Starlight doesn't see how she'll be of any help.

After all, if Starlight couldn't redeem Queen Chrysalis, how is she supposed to help a species she knows nothing about? Will Spike and Starlight be able to help, or will it be up to Spike alone to save the day?

As a way to say thank you for inviting Starlight to the human world, the unicorn offers Sunset Shimmer a chance to visit Equestria. Her visit may not be as eventful as the last two times, but she's still met with meeting leaders of other countries, dealing with a giant monster and a bad tempered changeling, and finally getting the biggest surprise of all time from her family.
