Stop me if you’ve heard this before. A man wakes up with a blinding headache and no knowledge of where he is or how he got there. Furthermore, it turns out that the world that he’s found himself in is populated by Technicolor ponies. However, there’s a glitch in the matrix. This world is not the Equestria of old where peace and harmony reigned supreme. No, this is the Equestrian Wasteland. A place where ponies struggle for their survival against bands of murderous raiders, xenophobic Enclave pegasi, and mutated monsters of all shapes and sizes. Luckily, this man’s name is Ethan Smith, aka The Lone Wanderer, aka that Crazy Son of a Bitch. Join him on his crazy quest to find a way back to his home in the Capital Wasteland, and with any luck make Equestria a brighter place along the way.

A side story to Light Wanderings and Dark Wanderings but neither have to be read in order to enjoy this.

Nearly two hundred years after the Great War, an earth pony awakes from stasis in a Ministry of Peace clinic -- parts of his body replaced, and his memories gone. Without knowing anything about what awaits him, he leaves the safety of the clinic for the Equestrian Wasteland, in search of that which he can no longer remember.

Equestria is in ruins. Nightmare Moon rose her final time...and with her arose the end of the world as everypony knew it. If they were lucky, they were evacuated into Stables, but most met a fiery grave when the two sisters unleashed their final defense...destroying everything...including themselves. 200 years later, a little unicorn from Stable 101 sees light...and horror...for the first time, and with it, equipped with only the legendary Princess Twilight Sparkle's book of magic and Fluttershy's Element of Kindness, she accepts her responsibility to find the Elements of Harmony and change this broken down world for the better.

My name is Frosty Winds. I was just your typical, rank-and-file Enclave scout. I had an ordinary life, living in contentment among my loving family and good friends. Things were good.

At least, I'm pretty sure that was the case; I honestly can't say for certain anymore. One moment, I was being recruited to take part in a routine Wasteland scouting mission, and the next moment I wake up as a prisoner of the Steel Rangers.

On the bright side, I’m not missing much. Just all of my memories. And my left foreleg. Nothing important, really. Pile on a disease I’m not vaccinated against and being a few clouds short of a weather system probably doesn’t make any of this much better.

As if that wasn't enough, apparently I made a deal before I lost my memories. If I don't complete my task I agreed to within a month, I'll die. Of course, it would be helpful if I could remember what the agreement was.

So here I am, floundering aimlessly about the Equestrian Wasteland. I have absolutely no idea what happened, what I should do, or how to uncover the secrets that lie within my stolen memories.

Help. I need an adult.

A young filly in present day Ponyville is cursed with nightmares of post-apocalyptic Equestria. She finds herself influencing the course of future history in ways that she cannot understand. She must learn to balance her life at home with her life on the other side of the veil, and fight to preserve her own sanity, and her own innocence.

She discovers that such a task is only possible through the magic of friendship.

"War, war never changes. Even if the technologies used to fight the battles change, the basis of war and its objectives remain the same. No matter how far anyone goes to stop it for good, it will always come back, one way or another."

A loyal Conscript’s duty is to die for the Motherland, a convicted Flak trooper’s duty is to lay waste to enemy armor. But they are similar as they are merely the beginning of a regular Soviet armored column’s advance, and alas they serve nothing more than just cannon fodder, people swept away in the misery of the War of the Three Powers.

But two soldiers of these very roles beg to differ, as they awaken in post-apocalyptic Equestria, a world worse to wear than their own. Their purpose is unknown and with no clear objective in sight or mind, the only thing to do is to survive.

Now she must find a way to survive in the Equestrian Wasteland, a place that tears weak ponies like her to shreds. Little did she know that she would become the powerful and feared figure known as the Black Cat.
