So when he rolls over to find the creature that crashed his wedding and nearly wrecked his chance at happiness snuggled oh-so-sweetly at his side, with his darling Cadance at his other, it's all he can do to keep it together and try to assemble the missing pieces.

It's the perfect day: the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, Twilight is in Canterlot, and a strange pony has come to Ponyville to narrate Spike's every move.

Wait, what?

Ruler of an empire. Wife. Sister-in-law. Champion of love. Cadance has many roles, and for one day a year, she gets to shed them all and just... be. So when the sun rises on Hearts and Hooves day and her beloved Shining Armor is nowhere to be found, the pretty pink alicorn starts to see red. Apple Bloom loved it when Babs Seed visited.
She was her favorite cousin, and that's saying a lot because Apple Bloom has a lot of cousins.
So what they loved each other? So what if they liked to hug each other a lot and try to be in constant physical contact with each other? So what if they don't leave each others side when Babs visits? So what if they like to sleep in the same bed?
The other ponies see it, especially her family. Everypony sees it except for Babs Seed and Apple Bloom. They just look at it as cousinly affection. But what if it was something more?

The princesses gave their magic to Twilight to prevent Tirek from stealing it. As a result, they end up stuck in Tartarus.

Marvelous place, Tartarus. Really brings ponies together. The fact that things manage to go downhill here says a lot about the wonders of family and alicornhood.
