i really enjoyed this! it paints a mysterious and interesting picture of what it's really like to be an alicorn. i definitely have the same impression that everything before Twilight was just trying to keep the lights on, so to speak.
i'd like to see more like the first half, though. you've got a fascinating way with descriptions of immense power and the warped perspective it brings, and i think that's the strength of this piece, more than the comparatively simple concept of Equestria always being an exercise in controlled burns.
