It’s a video game that I was loosely inspired by. This was supposed to be a vaguely humorous one shot where Rainbow Dash has inadvertently become desynchronised from normal time and Twilight loses her mind trying to figure it out. In the game, time starts having glitches with signify the onset of the total breakdown of time. And Twilight has inadvertently discovered the Rainbow Dash's strange relation with time allows her to move through these tiny pauses (an effect which was transferred to the measurement device that went through the Sonic Rainboom).
I wasn't expecting another chapter, but after reading the second one, I'm into this strange phenomenon. Please continue!

A good chapter, I liked it! That big ball of rainbow energy that Rainbow saw was no doubt the time portal that Starlight Glimmer used to go back and alter time.
All the same, I wish Starlight Glimmer had died in a fire. She is one of the few characters I actually despise.

I'm not entirely sure. I originally wrote this as a oneshot, then decided to expand it. As some people have already guessed, it will cover Season 5 with a grand culmination during Starlight's time travel escapades though how many chapters that will take is anyone's guess.

Someone was trying to train RD's temporal powers, methinks. To what end, I'm not sure yet.
The thing is, if RD's powers are increasing/accelerating, one of two things will happen. Either she will Ascend to become the Alicorn of Time, or her powers will rip her mind and body apart as it tries to be in ever possible future, every reality at the same time.
Not sure if anyone picked up on this or if it's of any significance, but the pony that took Rainbow aside for the 'random' check shares her initials.

Starlight Glimmer went back in time without a way forward, correct? She time travelled without RD's powers and was stranded in the past. But it ended up as a "stable" loop, so she re-established herself and waited for this moment, to drain RD's powers so she could achieve whatever her goal has now become (considering an unknown amount of time has passed, it may not longer necessarily be the elimination of cutie marks. Time has a way of changing one's perspectives on things, after all...

Ah. I actually thought Starlight time travelled without RD's power at first. Starlight went back in time, found herself stranded, and founded Aion industries (or otherwise became involved with it). How else could they have known to expect RD right after her visit to Starlight's village? Now they're trying to drain RD's powers for some other purpose that hasn't quite been made clear yet. Apparently the draining hasn't negatively affected RD yet, given she's now freezing time of others as well as jumping forward faster than a princess can teleport.
All guesswork of course, but I have fun doing it.

Twilight is slightly frustrated with her inability to understand this phenomenon and that the only proof she has they occur is Rainbow’s testimonies and a clock that gains a few minutes every day. Of course Celestia and Luna would understand completely, but Twilight has been known to walk on eggshells around them. She plans to tell them once she has data to present.

The overall trend is towards ageing, but it’s not consistent. So within a given hour she could age three hours then de-age two hours in only a few seconds. Some parts age rapidly, others slowly and more age in reverse. And the cells shift between these states randomly. They aren’t trapped in stasis and as of now only exist in one probability.

Rainbow Dash was too busy looking at the centaur being violently torn apart with time magic, so she wasn't aware Discord was also stutter-proof. Discord knows about the stutters and knows Rainbow Dash can perceive them, but he's Discord and being straightforward isn't exactly in his nature.
Got Starlight out of character. Even when a villian, she would never blast someone with a killing intent.
