I used to be relevant!

No knowledge of TRON is necessary to enjoy the story.

Ten years after Celestia disappeared with no warning nor trace, Twilight Sparkle receives a message from the lost princess calling for help. When Twilight and Rainbow speed to Canterlot, Dash is accidentally transported to a strange world – but in her race to escape the System, she faces an enemy she never expected.

Good luck to you with yours!

first comment i see right now. amazing stiory!!!!!:scootangel: hmmm. wonder if it works typing it :scootangel:

Haven't read chapter 2 yet, but I'm already sold after the first. Very excellent work, and I'm some kind of black sheep that thought the new Tron was awesome, so pretty much a win on every front from my point of view. Keep it up!

Good story, always love a story where saves Twilight from her retarded intelligence. Like and Fav for you!:rainbowlaugh:

I liked it too! Where's the Legacy love? :fluttercry:

Argh! I fell asleep! Hold on let me read this real quick!

I like the look of this!

Very good so far, I am very much looking forward to more.

Heh, looks like I found my bedtime reading tonight!:raritywink:

MotherofCelestia,itsaTronandMLPcrossoverwhatwillidoiknowillfavoriteit! :pinkiehappy:

1156375 I liked both Trons. The music and graphics of Legacy was awesome, but I think the original Tron had a great story...like this one!

What had she been expecting, some grand adventure to hunt down the Princess?

If only you know Twilight... if only you know...

...holy shitstormception on a stick...

Tron and Tron Legacy were both good; naturally the time span made Legacy's effects better so I don't judge based on that at all; story is the key, and i think the original was better.
But if anyone out there is a FPS fan and a Tron fan, then get Tron 2.0 NOW. It is the best game I've ever played, has the best storyline I have seen in any game i've played so far (one of the closest is Aliens versus Predator 2), and it has unique weapons for once, that's always a plus.
*cough* random promotion of games aside, very good story, will definitely continue reading.
In the mean time, its 4:21 am, and I need to stop getting sucked into more pony fiction. Grr. Fandom, I love you but stop being so f**king amazing for a moment pls. :pinkiecrazy:

Finally, a crossover with TRON. :pinkiehappy:

light cycles at the ready. :trixieshiftleft::trixieshiftright: oh crud recognizers ram flynn let's go. :rainbowdetermined2:

it would be pretty bad ass if flying in the grid for RD would create a light wall naturally.

I came here because I was intrigued by RBDash47's profile pic. (Best pony in TRON getup. /)^3^(\ SO AWESOME!!)

Then I checked out his profile page.

Saw this story.

Nerded out.

Read the story.

Like, fav, follow.

This needs to get featured.

Now THAT is how you end a chapter.

You're off to a solid start, man!

"Simulacra and Simulation, by Boerdrillard"
Awesome ponified name is awesome. :pinkiehappy:

Aww, you read my story when you should have been packing or sleeping or something, you're so sweet!

added to read later list

Given that all I know of the Tron series is from Kingdom Hearts (both II and 3D), I honestly wouldn't be surprised at this point to see Riku showing up to teach Dash Flowmotion attacks. Which would be awesome, but jargon aside, it seems to me that the heat that got everyone excited in the first chapter was replaced with a wave of exposition. This would have been alright if it seemed more for Dash's sake than the sake of the readers. Though the cliffhanger at the end was nice, I would have preferred if you had ended with Dash's first glimpse of the datascape, but that's really just a 'what I would do' complaint. In the end, it's not as good as the first chapter, but since the first chapter was excellent and would be hard to top by anyone's standards, I'm willing to let that slide.

In the meantime, write more, and if you haven't already submitted to Equestria Daily, I suggest you doing just that. Those of us who hide our craft and don't do our best to show it to others are doing the world a great disservice, especially when your work deserves to be showcased. For your first fic, it's turning out nicely, and Lord knows you need encouragement to actually write the next freaking chapter.:trixieshiftleft:

I don't usually read crossovers, but it's tron, so it's cool.
Great job in this, btw.

I'll take a look at this later... I'll just say for now that while I liked Legacy, I think Tron 2.0 did much better things with the central idea.

Jewel? Shy? Interesting. And Dash too! :rainbowdetermined2:

how did the elements turn into CPUs...

For what it's worth, I think there were quite a few flaws with TRON Legacy; where possible, I'm patching in its plotholes.

Thank you!

How indeed!

At some point, Dash has to do a Reality Shift. Damn, the light cycles in Kingdom Hearts were hard.:rainbowlaugh: And I'm probably never going to stop seeing those parallels.

The description is your strong point, but don't neglect the 'tension,' so to speak, in your world. The whole chapter seemed to rush by too fast for me to get a really good handle on it, and though I suppose that could just be a flaw in the way I read, I would advocate paying close attention to the pacing of your piece.

Good chapter. Bit of a long wait, but good chapter nonetheless. :pinkiehappy:

I guess I'm not really sure what to do about that. It's not meant to be a long, drawn-out thing - Dash is kicked into this world and trying to figure out what's going on, but doesn't really have time to take a breather.

Site Blogger

I'm sorry about the wait! I'm trying to not do that any more. Thanks for reading!

I fell in love with this all over again.

This story isn't just "Let's take Tron: Legacy, replace Sam with Rainbow Dash and Flynn with Celestia, throw in some other ponies, and re-write it". You've also got Twi and Luna on the outside trying to figure out what the buck is going on. You've still got me guessing on who will be Zeus (Vinyl Scratch, duh), Cracken (I thought Big Mac at first, but then I noticed it said gaurdmare. Applejack?), and Quorra (I want to say Twilight, but I`m not entirely sure).

And as for the ending, I think we can all agree that this is highly relevant.

That is totally my new wallpaper.

I cannot tell you how excited I am about this story right now. It's been rattling around in my mind on and off since I joined the fandom nearly two years ago, and in the last week it's really started to click, to come together. It's taking a lot of self-control to not just tell everyone the cool parts that are coming up.

Fanged Dash was just a bit of fun for Halloween, I'm afraid, so I could change my avatar, but if you ignore the fangs, it's a pretty good look for what Dash met at the end of this chapter.

Thank you for reading.

I haven't actually watched TRON but I love how your story goes nonetheless!

Now to wait to find out what happened to Celly...

Site Blogger

Thank you! I hope it's accessible to folks who haven't seen the movie; I like to think it is.

It certainly made me wonder things that those who watched the movie already know at the start like: are all the people Dash met just programs? What are their relations to the real ponies (e.g. Jewel with Rarity); why are these people playing what looks like a very dangerous-type match, among other stuff and while it confuses me at first (like most stories when they are just starting), eventually you'll get to explain them as the story progresses. You will, right? :ajbemused:

In regards to Tron: Legacy, the next chapter or two should clear things up for you. The duplicate Dash will most likely say some things that, in the movie, were explained through a prologue and what CLU tells Sam (evil Dash is CLU, and good ol' Rainbow is Sam Flynn). People who've seen the movie can easily predict the possible fate of some characters, which is why I'm hoping RBDash will throw a wrench in the works and surprise us.

Can't say much more without implying accidental spoilers. I consider it lucky that you haven't seen either movie; more suspenseful and interesting.

Yep and make me download TRON and watching it after I'm done reading :pinkiecrazy:

Site Blogger

I believe that everything will be clear in time. The chapter after next will be worryingly thick with exposition, where we finally get some answers about just what Celestia was trying to do, how the system works, and how it's gone wrong.

I think it's safe to say PONY Legacy is heavily inspired by TRON Legacy, but it's definitely not a direct one-to-one correlation. It's also inspired by quite a bit of other science fiction... I'll probably have an authors notes at the end talking about it. Anyway, many characters' fates end up similarly to the movie, but for completely different reasons... and of course, others experience different fates altogether.

Interesting, i like it

I daresay, I was expecting binary for your chapter numeration. Oh well, some I never do get exactly what I expect. Excellent story by the way.
