M/M fics usually are downvoted. You however, as a well known and well written author, gain a lot of leeway in this regard.
You've built up enough followers to pretty much guarantee a feature on anything you write, assuming it's upto your standard quality. Also, you've built up a good reputation for yourself so readers are far more likely to give your story a chance rather than reflexively downvoting on content alone; new authors are rarely afforded the same.
Even then, you'll notice that the ratio for the story isn't quite what your stories usually garner. Just about any semi-coherent clop story will manage about a 10:1 ratio, with the majority of M/M stories faring considerably worse. Your own usually seem to manage a 20+:1 with regularity, however, your M/M ones often struggle to beat that 10:1 ratio. It's just the sad way of things when it comes to certain content on the site. Some users just reflexively downvote simply based upon the content of the story rather than the quality. Glad to see another story of yours hit the box regardless.

Hmm. I see what you mean, actually. I punched in the numbers from some of my other fics, and I have gotten surprisingly good ratios for some of them. Better than this one, at least. Although I was actually expecting the story to be 'hindered' by the fact that it's M/M, I was still surprised that it only had seven downvotes when I got on this morning. Site doesn't have many M/M stories, and even less are written by authors that actually get featured regularly. Even if it does wind up being less popular than my other stories, I can at least say that I've done my part.
Besides, I really just wanted to write this particular story.
