The pony animatronics were under the care of Cadence. However, the ponied-up human animatronics were being controlled by the wrathful withered Celestia. When Chrysalis uses her magical influence to change some of the girls into monstrous slaves, the kind witch has a chance to prove that she’s honorable.

Magic is finicky and hard to control, at best.
