Since trading a library tree for a much larger crystal castle, Twilight Sparkle and Spike don't see each other quite as much as they used. One quiet day in a string of quiet days, the young alicorn decides to visit her even younger companion.

Twilight is the coolest mare in the world. She's the coolest mare in any world really. Like cooler than a new book.

Today, she brings that coolness to a whole new world.

The students at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns must hatch a dragon during their entrance exam. Once the dragons come of age, however, they must be released to rejoin the wild dragon flock. The students have cared for their dragons since they hatched, so it's understandable for special friendships to form between student and dragon. One such relationship was forged between a certain purple unicorn and a young, wingless dragon. Princess Celestia allowed Spike to stay, but she made him make a promise. As the years drag on, it becomes harder and harder for him to keep that promise.
