They took me from my family, and experimented on me like a lab rat. Now with the power of acceleration I escaped after three years of torture. But I ran too fast and broke through the barrier into a world of talking equines. With my old life gone, I seek to make a new life for myself, but those who used me will not let me go so easily. Equestria was a peaceful land, free of strife and violence. Then the war came and shattered that peace. Homes were destroyed, families were split in half, and thousands were killed.

A group of soldiers come to a small village to inspect the damage they have caused and ensure the village won't cause any more trouble.

What they find will change their minds forever...

Based on the poem Conquerors by Henry Treece. This was written as practice for capturing the melancholy atmosphere of war, for a collab I'm writing in.

Grop is your typical giant, one whose average day consists of tending to his favorite mammoths, collecting extortion money peace offerings from farmers, maintaining huge bonfires, and crushing the puny bones of haphazard bandits foolish enough to intrude on his camp to loot his shiny treasure. One particular day, he gets caught in the backwash of two deities' powerful magics, and is teleported to a faraway land across the ocean, a great kingdom populated by sapient talking equines. Upon noticing the change of scenery, with all the world falling into chaos around him, the giant is left with one lingering thought:

"What happened to all my shiny stuff?"

A woman gets transported to Equestria. In a strange twist, she's heterosexual. Too bad every pony in Equestria isn't.

Cheerilee catches a massive cold and won't be able to teach class for a while. She calls in for a substitute, but ends up getting an eccentric creature named Miss Frizzle with her even stranger contraption. She can only hope that this new "teacher" can teach without causing mayhem.

As I sit on this branch, looking at the town through the mangled, black branches, I began thinking about why I came here. About everything I left behind on Earth.

I wish I'd never have come here...

The year is 2557 AD. Four years, seven months and ten days have passed since the activation of Installation 04B and the annihilation of the Flood. While humanity and the Covenant have struck a truce for the time being, and started to rebuild their civilizations, Master Chief Petty Officer Spartan John-117 has been in cryo-sleep, adrift, while his ancillary AI, Cortana, has been trapped in her own thoughts. She had been looking for a reason -- any reason -- to wake the SPARTAN up. Now she had one.

They were crashing.
