This story was actually nominated in several categories, as it's funny, and it's sweet. It ended up winning The Fluttershy because the heartfelt moments are what really stood out the most.

Lily is hungry, but the only person around to feed her is her sleeping father. So, what does any child do when they're hungry? They wake their parent and ask for food.

The Principality hails and honors Prince Blueblood for standing up to bigots and openly embracing his love for Connie, the humble donkey palace maid who has won his heart. Their love is grand, their intentions clear and their hooves are set towards the altar. They will be married.

A Royal Wedding is no small challenge. Blueblood has lived his life in the upper reaches and his great-aunts have as well. Connie... hasn't. Prince Blueblood is a strange egomaniac, forever trying to make himself appear bigger and better than he truly is. From buying the affection of mares with fancy dinners and jewels to using his status to bring other nobles to flock around him. But following a humiliating encounter in Canterlot with a vacationing constable he has restricted himself to the palace, and been his best, which is the worst.

Then while he's in the kitchen pinching food he thinks he has found an impudent servant. There follows a curious collection of experiences.

Rarity has a problem with the way Spike snuggles with her at night. Instead of holding her in his arms like she wants, he simply lays on top of her, smothering her every night. She hates to do it, but she waits until he falls asleep and then pulls herself out from under him, curling up into a small ball in what space is left on the bed. She knows things have to change, but after she brings up the subject, she fears that she may have just done more damage than good.
