This story is a sequel to King Sombra's Rise and Fall

An eon ago when King Sombra overtook the Crystal Empire with powerful magic, Princess Celestia feared that a malicious unicorn might threaten Equestria, too. Thus, she passed laws with the secret intention of preventing unicorn threats to the kingdom. She locked many powerful spells in the Canterlot Archives, took over magical education, and prohibited unicorns from raising the sun as they once did. Prince Blueblood discovers this and leads a revolt to establish a unicorns-only kingdom.

Prince Blueblood returns from Ponyville humiliated by his failure to successfully win the hoof of Princess Twilight Sparkle. Shamed, the last thing the vain and spoiled prince wishes to do is indulge in some self-reflection. Rather he dismisses his servants and seeks to sate his craving for affection as he always has - by buying favours and calling it friendship. But, when the strangely endearing Lyra Heartstrings takes a job as Blueblood's new valet, he finds himself being drawn into a world he never new existed, a world where he is beguiled by the beautiful and restrained cellist Octavia, the only mare in Canterlot to ever refuse his advances.

When Prince Blueblood's former valet takes his revenge by ruining his erstwhile master, Blueblood will discover the difference between friends and flunkies, and might even find some meaning in a previously hollow existence.

After Prince Blueblood is assassinated under his watch, Lieutenant Flash Sentry must navigate the deadly perils of the Court of Canterlot.

One with a penchant for Royal blood

Prince Blueblood is an insufferable jerk and pampered to the point that he can't tell how much he's missing with Rarity.

Isn't he?

Princess Celestia has called him to her study for a discussion about his behavior. Now he must answer for all his mistreatment of the mare.

It is said that every dog has its day, that every wrong will be eventually righted, and that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. For Prince Blueblood, these were simply words that applied to other ponies; he had no problem stomping over, mowing down, destroying, or flattening any pony who stood in his way.

Until today.

Blueblood was perfect. He truly had it all: charm, wealth, intelligence, rank, except... that.

So his Aunt, bless her great wisdom, decided to help him acquire it. Perhaps participating in the search party for those missing ponies will help him find what he lacks to be the prince he was meant to be.

Of course, it could never be that easy. And no, it will not be that easy.

Far from it.

Two kingdoms' rulers are always arguing. Equestria and Stabalia. The king and queen of Stabalia are constantly telling Celestia and Luna to rule with an iron hoof, and Celestia and Luna tell them love and tolerance. They fall from their old friendship, and soon argue every time they communicate. rumors of war soon spread, and it seems likely to happen. King Noon Sun finally comes up with the solution: his daughter, Sunrise Glow will marry Princess Celestia's nephew, Blueblood. Sunrise Glow soon fears for her sanity.

Based on a comment on Youtube about a clip showing Blueblood spitting out Applejack's fritter. What if Blueblood has an excellent reason for acting like a complete prat that night? What if there's more to this stuck-up idiot than meets the eye?

Posted in part because it feeds into the Cutie Mark Adventurers continuity, but set sometime between the 'The Best Night Ever' and 'Sweet and Elite'.

Sometimes ruling a kingdom means that you have to get your hooves dirty. When Blueblood starts stirring the nobles to disrupt Celestia's reign, she has to take a step in.
