Jessica finds herself flung into a world she has little concept of. Everything is strange and new to her, but worst of all she cannot communicate with the native inhabitants. A world of monsters and sapient ponies, griffons and other assorted beasts is no place for a human girl.

How will Jessica cope? Without an understanding of their language how will she make her way in the world, will she even be able to ever communicate with them? Why was she even brought into the world and is there even a way for her to get home?

As Rarity works on special dresses for the biggest fashion show of the season, Applejack dreams of where the fields are, where the summers are wet and the winters clear.

Happy is she who knows the causes of things--and as Rarity begins to understand the underlying problems with Applejack's discontent, perhaps she can find the right words to say.

After the mishap with Trender, Rarity and Applejack discuss their feelings about the situation- and each other.

Twilight's new royal duties take her beyond Equestria's borders and travel to the frozen wilds beyond even the Crystal Empire. Along the way, she will endure the pettiness of a royal prince and an apathetic reindeer who doesn't seem to care much. About anything. Will she be able to handle her new responsibilities and the untamed nature of the Northern Wilds?
