The threat of The Collector has been vanquished, and peace has returned to the land of Equestria. Everything should be back to normal, right?

If only it were that simple.

The nations beyond Equestria's borders now stare at the sister monarchs with suspicion, viewing them as potentially compromised and dangerous; forcing Celestia and Luna to play international politics while they hurry to keep tabs on wards and prisons for dark forces long sealed away.

Meanwhile, the former human, now pony known as Skitch-Sketch struggles to find purpose in her life in Ponyville. Fear of other threats dominate her nightmares, and to make matters worse she will have to face her most deadly foe yet...

The Goodfic Bin

Lightning Dust isn't a kind pony and she isn't a pony who cares about others. All she ever wanted was to get a breakthrough, to have one thing go right for her, no matter the cost. It didn't matter what would appear in her way, what would hinder her and who would help her, because in the end all that mattered was that she would become a wonderbolt.

Strangely enough, her dream was crushed and Lightning Dust found herself flying into a direction, which she didn't know. Maybe she had hoped to find an answer, but all she found was a village attacked by an ursa major. Now she is just wondering why she couldn't simply ignore it.

Rainbow Dash knows one thing for sure, she is definitely not a barbarous, uncivilized dolt who doesn't know polite conversation from a hippopotamus's rear end. And also that she's definitely not the one who's wrong. Rarity is wrong. Rainbow Dash is absolutely, totally, a hundred percent sure of it.

But then why did Rainbow just buy a wagon load of apology bouquets?

Twilight Sparkle comes across a small, battered diary detailing a new form of transportation. While the research is sloppy and the notes incomplete, Twilight takes it upon herself to see that the ancient project is completed.

Of course, nopony said it would be easy.

In the ninth century, the renowned and feared viking, Alrik the Strong, had finally set sail back to his home in Scandinavia. After a successful expedition in the Americas, Alrik and his men felt invincible, capable of taking on the vast seas like their heroes, but that illusion of grandeur was torn away from their minds when a furious and wrathful storm capsized his ship, sending his crew into the loving arms of the All-Father in Valhalla.
He was walking, with his men, through the doors of Valhalla, but the being of the highest power denied Alrik's entry. He pleaded, and nearly wept, to go into the promised land of nords, but it would seem that Odin had other plans for the shipwrecked captain.

I have returned to writing this. After the abysmal writing I had in the middle chapters all those years ago, I have returned to reclaim my story and reclaim my shame. I will no longer hide, for I am truly back.

Taking a vacation in a nice relaxing and peaceful country? That's good.
Taking a vacation and being blamed for the the theft of some very important jewelry? That's bad.
Taking a vacation and becoming public enemy number one? That's really bad.
Taking a vacation and being hunted by adorable pegasi, unicorns, and ponies? That's... different.

A mage decides to take a respite in what he assumes to be the peaceful and safe land of Equestria. Unfortunately he's accused of stealing the "Elements of Harmony", a powerful set of magical regalia, and goes on the run from the law. Now stuck in a land of magical ponies, cut off from his only way home, and now the most wanted creature in Equestria, does he have any hope of proving his innocence and going home?

Maybe, but let's laugh at him as he gets beat up by cute equines!
