The last day of school has all but come and gone. Rainbow and the others have left to prepare the holidays with their families, leaving Sunset all by herself. Ready to spend another Christmas alone, Sunset exits CHS only to be greeted by a familiar face. Someone that comes bearing a gift Sunset never thought she'd receive.

In fact, it might just be the most important gift of Sunset's life.

Edit (26/12/2016): In my haste to get this ready by Christmas, I neglected to mention that Warming A Hearth in Another World by Flutterpriest was one of the inspirations behind this tale. I always try to give credits where they're due but this one slipped through the cracks, sorry!

Twilight Sparkle knew going to Sunset Shimmer's house for Hearth's Warming would be more fun than the typical holiday festivities at her parents' house. She knew she and Sunset could party through the snowstorm blowing through town and not even be mildly inconvenienced. She knew that with everything that had happened since they'd met at the Friendship Games, she and Sunset's friendship would never falter.

She didn't know Sunset Shimmer cooked her popcorn on high.

Sunset was expecting Princess Twilight Sparkle to be the one to come through the portal on a day when the holidays line up between the two worlds. Instead, her care package of Equestrian Hearth's Warming decorations is brought over by a student from the school of friendship, Gallus.

This unexpected encounter will lead to a holiday lesson that resonates with both of them.

Hearth's Warming is here again, just a few months after Twilight's coronation!

During these few months, Twilight has been overworking herself and has almost no time to spend with her friends outside of their monthly meetings.

Starlight wants to surprise Twilight on Hearth's Warming but needs something fresh, and thus she enlists Sunset Shimmer's help, to ask her how they celebrate Hearth's Warming on the other side. Sunset agrees to help, and they work together to make the perfect Hearth's Warming for Twilight.
