The State of Chiropterra had existed in isolated secrecy for a thousand years. Descended from the most loyal Legions of Nightmare Moon, they employed extreme measures to survive on a hostile continent, relentlessly preparing for the night of their Empress's glorious return.

But now their historic task is complete, Nightmare Moon sits undisputed upon the Equestrian throne, and Chiropterra's fate in the New Lunar Millenium is to be decided.

Amongst it all, the Equestrian General Selenite had befriended two Chiropterrans from opposite ideological persuasions, the hardline conservative Auburn Leaf and the moderate reformist Lucent Eclipse. As Chiropterra's future hangs in the balance, so does their relationship.

Takes place in my New Lunar Millennium alternate universe. More information can be found here, but no prior knowledge of my AU is required to read this story.

The following story takes place in the Equestria at War universe. It contains major spoilers for the Manehatten Protecterate.

Lilac didn't consider herself the leader type. And yet here she was, overseeing the vast city of Manehatten and the surrounding provinces. Years ago, after Equestria was conquered, Chrysalis had personally put her in charge of the shining city.

But Lilac soon learned that the ponies of Manehatten wouldn't give up their freedom even after the war was lost. Riots and uprisings were commonplace, and Lilac had her hooves full for years trying to put out the fires. Eventually, after countless promises, reforms, and policies enacted, she had finally gotten most of the ponies to see her not as a tyrant, but as the Protectress she claimed to be.

But the pony resistance was an ever present thorn in her side. Never quitting, never losing hope that one day Equestria could be free again. Thankfully for Lilac, she had managed to pull off something she thought impossible.

She had finally captured them. The leaders of the Equestrian Liberation Front. Now she was presented with the hardest choice she faced yet: What does she do with them?

But what about those unremembered by society? Those who had nothing to begin with?

What did War take from them?

An entry for Equestria at War's Fourth Annual Write-Off.

Contains spoilers to the Hearts of Iron 4 mod Equestria at War, but no early context on the EaW universe required.

Princess Luna reads to a kindergarten class full of foals. A lot of stuff happens.

I saw someone else’s story about Lulu reading to a school group and absolutely loved the idea, so this is my take.

Sunset Shimmer, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Applejack wake up in a drop pod as someone welcomes them to a corporation called Deep Rock Galactic and remembers nothing about how they ended up in this situation. With guns in one hand and pickaxes in the other, they must work as a team if they want to make it back to the surface.

Pinkie Pie wakes up in a small cabin aboard a space station. Upon finding the quality of her new homes's food particularly low, she volunteers her skills as a master chef and lands a spot in the station's bar.

Fluttershy isn't of much use to Deep Rock Galactic at first, but that changes when she saves a dwarf's life in the medical room, and her new employer pays surprisingly well for a company that sends people to fight bugs miles underground in dark, scary caves.

Twilight Sparkle seemed too smart to be sent to the surface, so Management puts her on the Research and Development team in hopes that she can help them develop better tools and equipment for conquering the harsh world of Hoxxes IV.

Together, the friends must work harder than they ever have before if they want to survive the caves, climb the ranks of DRG, and--fingers crossed--return home.

Crossover with the game Deep Rock Galactic, which is a 1-4 co-op first-person shooter where you all play as dwarves that go down to the depths of a hostile alien world and mine minerals because Management pays you to. It's a hell of a lot of fun, and I highly recommend playing it with your friends.

I'm not sure how often I'll update this one, but it's still going to be a great adventure either way.

Character Progression Tracker and explanatory blog here. If you want to know what the girls can and can't do, this is the first place you should look!

EDIT: Added the "Narcotics" warning to cover myself as the girls begin using the complementary bar. In this story, it is assumed that all characters are of legal drinking age other than Twilight for the first while because she specifically mentions it (Don't underage drink kids). Alcohol is the only drug I will be using in this story.

Aria Blaze is a retired siren and member of the Dazzlings. It’s not really a story she could tell to just anyone, but who else can she turn to when the only two people she’s ever known disappeared from her life? Maybe you, perhaps?

For ten thousand years Princess Celestia and Princess Luna ruled over the peaceful land of Equestria. But something dark is beginning to stir in the shadows of space. Eternal, violent, mindless and bloodthirsty war. It was during the Age of the Old One's, or in human terms Horus Heresy. To make dreams about creating a utopia for their fellow ponies the Princesses of the Sun and the Moon unleashed a powerful spell that covered Equestria and Moon, hiding them from the war. The Royal Sisters buried the memory about the universe and they create harmony. But the spell wasn't powerful enough to hold for eternity, and even the Princesses effort didn't help. Probably one of the biggest manifestations of power in the entire universe vanished, revealing a peaceful nation of colorful, speaking ponies to the grim darkness of a galaxy wide war. It would be the end for Equestria, but Princess Luna managed to convince General Anders from the Imperial Guard, and Equestria joined the Imperium of Mankind. But to do this, the Princess of the Moon made a sacrifice that cast thousands of ponies into the oblivion.

That, was how The First and Only was born.

Applejack heard the whine of Gaunt’s chainsword as the commissar leapt up the scaling ladder nailed into the trench wall above the firestep and yelled to his soldiers.

“Ponies of Equestria! Do you want to live forever?”

Their reply, loud and raucous, was lost in the barrage of shells. But Ibram Gaunt knew what they had said. Weapons blazing, Gaunt’s Ghosts went over the top and blasted their way towards glory, death or whatever else awaited them in the smoke.

Forget the power of kindness and goodness, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of friendship and magic, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods

1982, a summer just like any other, but a string of border conflicts and botched talks finally pushed the world to world war three, and after that-

Nuclear armageddon.

Nobody surrendered, but nobody kept fighting the war either.

After the end, scientists of all sides and factions concluded a new impending ice age that would wipe out all of humanity. But instead of digging bunkers and accepting the cruel fate, humankind started to work on one-way portals that would hopefully link them up to a habitable planet, and just before winter arrived in 1984, they did it.

One by one, refugees, soldiers covered in bandages and mud, and politicians that soldiers surround formed massive lines to enter the portal. The ones who managed to go across all had the same question-

"Is that a talking horse?"

Based on the HOI4 mod "Equestria at War" and its submod, "Escalation 84" by Euro-General. Timelines are based on season six but altered to fit more into the EaW universe. Special thanks to previously Jadenone and now Ariandel for editing.
It has some comedy in it, but not the entirety of it.
