They say every fruit in the Evrefree Forest is poisonous save one. That there is one fruit that can be eaten and will grant you eternal youth and immunity to all poison of every kind. But the price of eating the fruit of eternal youth is that you can never find your way back home.

They say there are monsters that live in the Everfree Forest. One of them, the vampire, can make itself look like a normal pony to lure you deep into the woods. It is this creature alone that can show you the fruit of eternal youth.

Pinkie knows every legend surrounding these things. She knows she can stay safe and befriend one of these monsters, so long as what she's heard is true.

Warning! This story is a prequel to Final Corruption. You don't have to read that one to understand this, but it does contain a spoiler.

With the Rainbow Festival a resounding success, the Mane Six relish in a job well done. They have helped bring joy and smiles back to Hope Hollow, and they look forward to hearing about many more successful Rainbow Festivals to come.

However, one of the townsponies interests them. The designer pony Kerfuffle is missing the lower half of her left hind leg.

Why is that, they wonder?

Time is running short before Equestria consumes the earth and wipes out man kind. Storm has been a denier for years and when the time finally came, he refused to convert unless he could take his cat with him to Equestria.

First, those affected acquire an unhealthy obsession with cartoon ponies. Second, they begin to see their large, colorful eyes in their vision, like spots. Finally, those eyes roll shortly before the afflicted disappear.

Surrounded by the Everfree Forest, filled with delinquents, devoid of morals and any real sources of magic, Ponyville is the worst place to live in all of Equestria. But it also has the cheapest rent and Twilight's life just collapsed to the point where she can't afford to live anywhere else.

Perhaps the only thing Twilight has going for her now is that Rarity, the most powerful pony in town, has taken a liking to her. Rarity is eloquent, but the leader of a gang. She's beautiful and intriguing, but the most irreverent and delinquent pony Twilight has ever met. Rumors swirl around her. Some ponies even say she and her entire gang are all vampires.

But Twilight is smart enough to not give in to temptations. Or join a gang. Or become a vampire.

Starlight writes her final farewell to Twilight.

She didn't expect this to be this hard.

But it's for the best.

She only hopes Twilight sees it this way too.

What if pony princesses were actually highly social carnivores?

What if a National Geographic team began following them around to film a documentary?

What if nopony saw anything unusual about this?

A metaphor about growing up. Or possibly a metaphor about living in a surveillance society. Or maybe just a very, very weird idea that needed to become a story.

The Elements of Harmony have become heroes in the eyes of the general populace of Equestria.

So when Twilight gets a letter from the Make-A-Wish foundation, asking her and her friends to come visit a dying colt before he passes on, it should be no issue...

Right?
