This story follows immediately on the heels of "Swarm of the Century"

The parasprites have been sent packing and Ponyville is in pieces.

Who is this nondescript stranger, and what might she have had to do with the disaster?

Practice laps. That's all Fleetfoot wanted from her week off. A chance to build wing muscle, rack up her speed stats, and feel the wind in her mane. She's a racer. It's what she does.

Fleetfoot didn't ask to be put on search-and-rescue detail, and she definitely didn't ask to get saddled with the slowest Wonderbolt on the team.

She didn't ask for what came next, either.

Fleetfoot is not a monster fighter. She’s not an Element of Harmony. She's not a medic. She's not a hero. Fleetfoot’s just a pony who can fly really fast. But right now, she's all Silver Lining's got.

Thanks to Seattle's Angels for their review of this story!

Winter is at it's apex in Ponyville, but the year is not long for the world. New Year's is in full swing at Sweet Apple Acres. Two spent nags, mugs of cider in their hooves, sit before a roaring fire and find that their score is not yet settled. In the fields, a quiet blanket of snow and an emotional rollercoaster await. It's time to step outside.

(The song featured in this tale, "What are you Doing New Year's Eve?" is a favorite holiday song of the author. It was written in 1947 by Frank Loesser, and popularized by the author's favorite voice in music, Ella Fitzgerald.)

The milliner on March Street leads a simple life, tending to her shop and taking care of her goods. Her only company is her hats and the dusty shelves they inhabit. She has not had an exciting moment in a long while, and so expects nothing exciting to happen.

A broken amulet drives the once Great and Powerful mare into a life on the lam. With no friends, no shelter (not even her beloved wagon!), Trixie finds herself doing whatever she can to stay one step ahead of the law, but trying to remain incognito proves difficult for the former showmare.

Written for a writing challenge, but never submitted. Rather than languish unread and gather dust, it was thought better to publish here for public consumption.

It's been a dozen centuries since Discord's cousin Hades sold his former realm of Tartarus to Celestia and Luna, and now he's decided to get back into the game with another realm, a lighter, fluffier realm of daydreams that he calls Mythos. Visiting Rainbow Dash on Nightmare Night to recruit her as a professional daydreamer, Hades sets eyes on Fluttershy, and, well, a myth's gotta do what a myth's gotta do...

This story wasn't actually an entry in the Flutterdash group's Nightmare Night Story Contest, but it was inspired by the prompt.

A tiny filly stands on an open plain. Somewhere in the distance a fleeting glimpse of white leads her on, her heart yearning towards it. A dark power wearing her face attempts to stop her. And as she dreams, and wakes, and seeks, she finds that nothing is quite what it seems...

“How is it that gems like these are always hidden so deep? I love your poetry, can't get enough of it.”

“This is just really stellar, I hope everyone checks it out.”

“A concept which in the hands of just about anyone would have become empty prurience is instead warm and brilliant and funny and just lovely.”
