Applejack's life leaves her little time for romance. All the time that isn't spent working the farm is either given to her family, or given to sleep. So, she's largely given up on love, seeing it as just a far off dream.

What she doesn't know is that another pony can see that dream.

Twilight Sparkle is all set to enjoy her first night of sleep after becoming the Alicorn Princess of Friendship when Princess Luna arrives to fill her in on some of the less glamorous realities that come with great power.

Just something silly I thought of one day, thought I'd give it a shot.

Shortly after her first public appearance, the loveable Princess Luna has her form reverted back to that of the fearsome Nightmare Moon, a perplexing problem that she and her sister Princess Celestia must solve.

Together, the pair of siblings work to uncover the details behind this startling development, while learning about themselves and each other as they mend their relationship. Taking a page from the past, what better way to share and learn from each other than sharing a journal chronicling their experiences?

After a particularly nasty run in with a monster during a mission from the map, Twilight discovers that she has apparently gained immortality due to her ascension as an alicorn. With this realization, Twilight and Spike go to visit the Royal Sisters to study immortality and get some advice.

Instead, Twilight finds herself flung into a whirlwind of confusion.
