Twilight has been spending time reading up on the dynamics of pegasi flight for years as she's been learning how to use her new appendages. Rainbow Dash has proved to be a great flight instructor. Now Twilight feels she finally has enough knowledge to speak to Rainbow about the limits of pegasi flight. But what is with this desire to learn more? Is it simply a burst in curiosity, or something more?

But it was all the treasures of the earth that kept her coming back down to the ground.

Third place entry into the 'Broken Wings' contest for The Quills and Sofas Speedwriting Group. Originally written in 30 minutes, this version here has received some mild refinement.
This is additionally a contest prize for the wonderful wishcometrue, who requested some wholesome raritwidash.

Twilight Sparkle's wildest dreams have just been met, and exceeded. Due to an unexpected magical outburst during her entrance exam to Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, the Solar Princess herself took an interest and took Twilight on as her personal student.

This was a pleasant shock for Twilight and her family. However, a few months later, a less pleasant shock would reach Twilight in the form of Celestia returning to Canterlot with a new daughter, a freshly adopted pegasus filly named Rainbow Dash. As the two get to know each other, Twilight can clearly see something eating at the self absorbed and competitive filly's mind.

To make matters even more confusing, Princess Celestia is now hiding something. Twilight dares not question it, but it is quite clear that Celestia isn't being wholly open with anypony about her decision to adopt some random orphan.

Could the answers have something to do with the cryptic dream Twilight had the night before she met Rainbow Dash?

Scootaloo's life hasn't been the easiest. Being orphaned at a young age and brought up in the foster system came with its own set of challenges, not the least of which was a lack of older pegasi around to teach her how to fly. Fortunately, Rainbow Dash can help with that. With her honorary big sister taking a more active role in her life, Scootaloo learns much more about herself than just how to fly.

There is no such thing as a gut feeling, not really. If you suddenly start to feel afraid for no apparent reason, it's very unlikely to be anything serious. But it doesn't make it feel any better does it?

Getting presents on Hearth's Warming is great. Everypony knows, however, that what's even better is giving somepony else the perfect present. Twilight Sparkle figured out long ago that seeing their eyes light up with the magic that can only be felt on this special day was what really brought ponies closer together in each other's hearts.

So, when Rainbow Dash shows up early Hearth's Warming morning with a rickety old sleigh and tells her to hop in, how can she refuse? After all, sometimes the best gifts are the most unexpected ones.
