When Discord told Fluttershy that he loved her, he meant that he loved her forever. A beautiful, if fanciful sentiment to most. To a being like Discord, it's a very real promise. For one of them, forever is a very real thing, and an impossibility for the other. But Discord is a master of the impossible. It's his gift. And his curse.

Few if any ask, 'But what if Fluttershy outlives them all?' And I stress all. Part of why this story hits so well is that I've seen two diametrically opposed readings of it and it manages to support both at the same time. On one hand, it's a poignant and tragic love story as Discord desperately tries to keep his love alive and she fights back with just as much force to have him accept the inevitable. On the other hand, it's showing the most toxic relationship possible as Discord forces Fluttershy to endure it all - even as she begs him to stop - because he can't deal with not having her in his life. I know my read on the story, but it's fascinating that it manages to be both a beautiful romance and a relationship horror story all at once. But after the party, the tears, and her newer friends have moved on, and Twilight is all alone once again, somecreature she once thought of as a friend decides to visit her for tea.

Life is full of choices and regrets. And every one of them comes with an interesting idea of what might've happened had certain events not played out the way they did. But none have ever had the ability to see what would've happened.

That is, until Applejack starts to wonder just how different life would be all over Equestria if she were never around. And it just so happens that Discord is the creature who can show her. Strictly as an observer of course.

Just how different is this world where Applejack never exists? What has changed, and more importantly, is it a change for the better or the worse?

This story is a sequel to Starlight and Sunburst's Misadventures in Flurry Sitting

(Familiarity with Starlight and Sunburst's Misadventures in Flurry Sitting is strongly recommended, though not required. Takes place after "A Horse Shoe-In".)

Now that Sunburst is the new vice headmare of the School of Friendship, Starlight is thrilled to have her childhood friend and special somepony close to her at all times. Especially as she prepares to take over the school when Twilight ascends to the throne.

However, Trixie can't help but notice that her best friend hasn't been on a date with Sunburst in a very long time. Wanting her friend to be happy, Trixie takes it upon herself to give them one as a way of making up for her behavior during the search for a vice headmare.

Sunburst is eager to accept the offer (especially once Twilight gives her blessing), but Starlight is distracted by her worries about taking over the school. Can a date with Sunburst cheer her up? And does Sunburst have his own plans in mind?

Trixie has taken on her first big case as the student counselor, helping Gallus.

After being told off by their children, Stellar Flare and Firelight discuss some hard truths and revelations from that conversation over tea together, and support one another through it.
