The time has come for the first to go. Rainbow Dash has passed on from this life. And for Twilight, that only means one thing:
She'll be left to deal with eternity very, very soon. Alone.
And she's right.
But in the deepest, darkest time of night, a familiar face might be just what Twilight needs...

Immortality is really a downer.

9919852
Indeed... indeed it is.

I tend to enjoy these 'Immortal Twilight' stories, and this was definitely a great one. It's such an interesting concept to write stories around, and I feel you did it justice with this. Good job.

9919905
Thank you! I'm very glad you enjoyed!

9919852
Yeah, that's why I wrote a fic where she gives up her immortality. I just can't have it be my head canon. If you're looking for one where she passes on with her friends, take a look at mine. NO offense to you Toriandthehorse.

9919852
Sometimes, like this. Other times, you're truly thankful for it. People just don't like writing fics about those parts as much. And most of the time, it's just.... life.

Statement: The pain of death does not leave, I know all to well the pain of loss. It shall stick with you for eternity. But you can heal, do not ignore or forget, remember the good times and the sad. Make new connections, but remember the old.

Informative: Loss is a terrible and wonderful thing.

Eh, personally I view immortality is worse than death.

It's wonderfully unique as well. Most of the time, fics like this focus on Twilight losing her last friends (including mine). This one hits a whole different spectrum of feels.

Best part about the show ending? It's ours now. :pinkiecrazy:

9920624
Yes. We can have our own endings. I've made mine, and Twilight gives up her immortality to pass on with her friends in my head canon. I may dislike the idea of her outliving them but each to their own.

Jesus this was depressing

This was a wonderfully written piece; a real tearjerker! No fooling! So-o-o heavy with emotion and I LOVED every word of it.

9921033
Thank you - I really do appreciate that.
I'm very happy you enjoyed! Even.. if there were tears.. :pinkiesad2:

If everyone isn’t immortal, then NO ONE should be.

9920853
Well, whatever you want. Maybe Twilight could make new friends that are very similar to her old ones. But I find watching generations die while you endure to be too painful. I'd rather jump off a cliff.

Real tear-jerker this story, and classic Rainbow Dash. Well done!

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed!

That was said beautifully. Sadly, it's so true..
But.. I'm happy you enjoyed.. even through some possible tears..

I like the hopefulness in this story. Many stories about Twilight's immortality always show it as the worst thing ever, and it will suck pretty bad when her friends die of old age. But it's not the end of the world.

No one seems to realize that Twilight isn't trapped in the world of the living. Celestia managed to hold on for a thousand years watching all her subjects die from just the hope that Luna would return to her one day. And she was able to step down eventually.

It is not Twilight's job to be a vessel for suffering. She is the Princess of Friendship, and by definition she HAS to care about others, and she WILL feel terrible when they die. There is no way that the fundamental force of Harmony that exists in the world won't understand this. Twilight will be comforted, and if she ever comes to a point where she can no longer handle all the grief, Harmony will not require her to stay in this world.

Twilight was not made an immortal princess as a punishment. Perhaps the writers were careless to make her immortal without also making her friends immortal, too. But in universe, there is no possible way that she will be forced to helplessly watch everyone she has has ever loved march into their graves without ever joining them, for all time.

She will be given rest one day.

This story sounds like it needs a tragedy tag. Why isn't there one?

9923339
I was thinking about that, but apparently the description of tag says the 'downfall' of a character. Twilight more or less 'builds up' in this story, or so I.. like to think. :rainbowlaugh:
I'm open to adding such a tag if needed, though.

This is a great story. I loved every moment of reading it, even through tears and whimpers. Thank you for writing this.

This hit a bit close to home.

Very well done!

Twilight is immortal. No one can tell me otherwise. :fluttercry:

Thank you, too...
