After Sandbar's announcement about him and Yona having done "it" provoked a lot of confusion and embarrassment, now it's Smolder and Ocellus' turn. Their own announcement about "it" creates a different kind of confusion, but still a lot of embarrassment.

After the fiasco of last year’s Hearth Warming Tree, the Student Six are determined to have a multicultural Hearth’s Warming, where everycreature contributes a tradition of their own. Things have settled down at school, and even the classes had been rearranged so our favorite six students can be in the same classes. However, one day, Smolder chips a tooth and needs to get it filled. When she finds out how it's going to be fixed, she's less keen on this. Even with her friends telling her to do it, Smolder refuses, and things don't go well for any creature.

Sandbar doesn't talk much about his family, largely because his friends never ask. He's just glad to have made friends.

However, in private, Sandbar stays in touch with a few relatives. Including his cousin, Double Diamond.

And so, late one night, Sandbar stays up to write a letter telling his cousin all about life at school. And there are things he'll write in that letter, that he won't admit to anyone else.

Ocellus finds a love letter in her locker asking her to meet by the big tree. Her friends as happy for her as she comes to terms with the idea of having someone special in her life. Meanwhile, Sandbar, who has feelings for Ocellus, feels upset that he wasn't fast enough to confesses to her.
