"...what did I just even read." - Wintermist || "Pour la beauté du geste" || ooo || π

The world is in danger, again. Magic is to blame again. It's up to a teenage girl massively out of her depth to fix everything, again. It really feels like it's starting to become a worrying pattern, although Sugarcoat is far too preoccupied with far more pressing matters to worry about that. She'll have to make a decision, and getting there will involve learning how magic works, a lot of details she could have done without, and that if you scream into the void hard enough eventually the void screams back.

An entry in Imposing Sovereigns IV, under the prompt Sugarcoat / Unorthodoxy, and the 100th Sugarcoat story on the site.

Inspired by Oversaturation, Mirror Match Inc., and Machina Cor Armageddon.

Pre-read by Petrichord.

Applejack was the one they were channelling the beam through. Apparently they took turns with that.

Now I'm imagining them arguing who's turn it is, causing Sunset to argue that they lose important time because of that silly thing and that results in more anger. In short, a loss, but funny to imagine :derpytongue2:

"I did." Sugarcoat looked at Sunset with a tilt to her head and an understated smile. Then, as Sunset was thinking through it, she went, "Thirteen. Blue. Yes. One time you accidentally hurt your horn while levitating hot tea in front of Celestia."

I think I missed what exactly she did (except for taking the choice, but does that imply Twilight knew exactly that and asked about it?). I get that this line implies omnipotence, but maybe I don't know enough of the others that inspired this fic? Or is this like in Oversaturation and what happened to Sunset?

All in all, an interesting take on Sugarcoat and an even more interesting world building even if I feel I didn't got everything, but that's on me :twilightsheepish:

Truly fascinating, and a most unenviable position. Sugarcoat isn't the one anyone would have chosen for this role, herself included, but she may be one of the least bad options. (I do find myself wondering how some of her classmates might handle the matter. And what might have happened if a different magical girl was leading the charge to mend reality. Rarity might have been the choice for a ripped seam in the fabric of space and time.)

Thank you for a fascinating tale of ad hoc apotheosis. Best of luck in the judging.

Came from "Oversaturation Inspired"!

So sorta if Sugarcoat ascended instead of Sunset.

Cool narration!

I wonder what the mystery questions are that got answered. Something like "How many times have we had this conversation, how many times did you reset the world, trust password, etc"!

Seems like she's slowly getting used to it, having been stable for a month, etc.

I am confused, amazed, interested, and understanding it all in one go. I didn't think that was possible, but here we are :raritywink:
