In order to obtain the power to control Equestria, Cozy Glow must kill three primordial demons and eat their hearts. It's an unsavory business. Better hope she brings hot sauce.

A story about power and those who suffer it.

Words cannot describe how deeply I enjoy this story, I love every last bit of it. I hope it gets the recognition it deservers.

I can really get behind this premise. Looks like I'm in for a fun read!

-cozy was asphyxiated, abraded, bruised, battered, corroded, and cut.
-then some insane coincidence happened and she killed the thing
-"loser! how dya like them apples! rip bozo! i am god!"
-her wings moved fast enough to cavitate air

yo I thought that the pony side characters would survive. like the professor in the last chapter. The supernatural dying and the mundane living. would have been perfect. but oh myyyy goddddddd.

I have to hand it to cozy though, she didn't get lucky this time, she was clever. well played. still didn't almost die in 10 different ways at the same time

and did i forget to mention that her wings are cavitating the air

honestly i forgot about the broader context of the show.. oops

she died. that's it... she died... what was any of it for

11735402 Cozy Glow was actually a mantis shrimp the whole time! :raritywink:

To answer your other question--this is a story about the danger of power. The act of consolidating power will, through deliberate or incidental means, harm innocent people. Cozy Glow pays a terrible price for her lust for power. But through no fault of their own, the other side characters also pay a terrible price for Cozy Glow's lust for power. Sometimes it's merely destruction and theft of property. Sometimes it's incidental death. Sometimes it's murder.

This was something special. It's very rare you find an adventure story with a villain protagonist done this well. The fact you left Cozy's fate somewhat ambiguous adds to the impact. Did she transcend her physical body and become some sort of abrahamic god, subtly shaping reality? Or did she give up her already immense power in a fruitless bid for more, dying to her own insatiable greed?

Why aren’t there death and/or dark tags?

A most engrossing tragedy. Cozy has been blind to everything that isn’t another step on the path the greater power for practically her whole life. And when she saw the light at the end of her tunnel vision…

Well, it’s not clear whether the soul passed with that mortal shell or not. In either case, excellent work all around. A stark portrait of the damage such naked ambition can cause.
