Pascoite

I'm older than your average brony, but then I've always enjoyed cartoons. I'm an experienced reviewer, EqD pre-reader, and occasional author.

Adagio Dazzle has a real penchant for showing up at the wrong time in places special to Sunset Shimmer. The school, the PostCrush concert, and now her favorite music cafe. Adagio doesn’t seem to be causing any trouble with her singing yet, but sirens only sing for one reason. When Adagio sets her plan into action, Sunset will be ready to stop her.

What’s “ma non troppo”?

11636039
It's explained in the author's note.

Where did you get the cover!?

11636490
It’s a cropped screenshot from an EqG short that preceded Sunset’s Backstage Pass called “Find the Magic.”

God this is amazing!

Next week? Next WEEK?! You drop this level of artistry and romance and then make us wait a week? Beautifully written. Adagio is adorable.(Adagable?) Was just going "aww" the entire time.

and I’d expect Agadio’s to be bound in the past,

Small typo snuck in on you.

Whoa! I thought those pendants were completely shattered!

11636858
If you read the info about that short from the wiki, the writers were showing them more symbolically, not intending to mean that the amulets weren't shattered or could be repaired somehow. But they don't state that outright, and obviously I'm using headcanon that they can grow back, which I've written in a couple other stories.

Thanks for catching that!

“Saw them? You know who Luthier van Dross was?”

:rainbowlaugh:

Re your author's note: I guess Shirley Jackson has inspired a lot of people, hasn't she?

She probably has, and rightfully so. The first time I encountered that quote was a transcript from an interview of her, but she may have gotten it from somewhere else. I haven't bothered tracking down the original source to see if it's her. That was about a year ago, and since then, I've noticed that they sometimes use it on one of the XM radio classical stations.

This is absolutely phenomenal.

Loving Adagio here. Sunset is holding her own as well.

Very excited for more.

I always loved how you write the sirens. Each is so unique in every story of yours, and this one is no different. I'm drawn in by Adagio's embrace of an instant of beauty, and it feels so magical and intimate when she shares it with Sunset. Can't wait for more!

Now I wanna know how Adagio is figuring out who should be related to who. I wanna say Celestia bit that seems a bit too obvious so lets see where this goes.

Dante Allegory

The puns, I can't-!

Maybe it's EQG Adagio.
Though, that would put a... complicated spin on the kisses they've been sharing.

Goodness gracious this story is amazing.

Keep it up.

Summer Blaze (kirin), is there something you need to tell us?

Sorry it's a day late, but yesterday was crazy busy. I didn't get home until after 10.

If this turns out to be a misunderstanding caused by a drunk, Sunset's got an apology to give.

Will she love her or break her?

Oh man...

How many chapters long will this story be?

The finale!?? Noooo. But looking forward to it anyway.

A grin crescendos across my face, and I jut my chin toward the new arrival. “Aria went over this with me. A tiger can’t change its stripes.”

I love it! A character is active character with history and with a lifetime full of experience. They don't change their mind at a dime of a hat and their experience matters even if they're the villain of the society story. You have expressed brilliantly a character who is making a genuine change in their life but fell down while trying to be a better person. Bravo.

Sorry, another chapter that's a day late, but yesterday was a travel day.

Woah... Sunset doing THAT with her geode was not what I expected...

This was a great story. One of the interesting parts was that, given what the average Brony knows about Adagio, there is that subtle expectation that she'll pull a fast one on someone, that she's using them for nefarious purposes. You took that expectation and flipped it on its head in a way that was both fascinating and enjoyable to read. Well done!

Yeah that was pretty unexpected. Hopefully all goes well!!

Ah Sonata, my dear taco-loving siren. I can never get enough of her, and of course when you write her, it's always a treat. I had developed a similar theory to what she presented in this chapter, but I have to admit, the thing with Autumn was pretty hard.

Aww, loved it. I'm glad they found a way to communicate better, and Sunset sacrificing her geode was a stroke of genius! (Pun intended.)

Well this is one of the prettiest things I've ever read. I absolutely adore it (as Adagio would want, I'm sure)!
The first person perspective adds a lot here, and your descriptions are just gorgeous.

Also, your Adagio reads a lot like another of my favorite characters from something else (Heather Chandler, specifically), which is a fun coincidence.

11695569
As in the character from Heathers? That’s a movie I like quite a bit. I was just remarking recently that I liked the anime series The Flowers of Evil because it had a similar dynamic.

11695648
Yup! Though I was more thinking the musical. I couldn’t really tell you why this story makes me think of it; it’s just a tonal similarity with the fics that fandom tends to write, I suppose.

That aside, this is a beautiful story, and I really like your prose. Sunset is very… Sunset, and Adagio is hot and really sweet in a way that makes her vulnerability very emotional to read. I almost like that none of the others are around; it lets this relationship really shine.

While I’ll admit I do have a soft spot for unhealthily dependent romantic relationships that characters have to be in because it’s the only option, the more realistic, lighter ending of them ending up friends (for now) works well here, and struck a nice balance between romantic and platonic feels.

Thank you for your work <3
