The whole thing was a random idea of mine that I had when I saw the picture - and without meaning to be self-praising, I think I didn't do too badly, considering it was a 30-second decision and I just typed what felt right.

Error 500 happens if the image is too large. There's no set limit to size (it's based on memory usage). There are no automated checks against the source to determine if the image is allowed or not, so it's definitely not because the source is explicit.
My recommendation is to crop the image to a resolution of 512 x 512 or smaller -- there's nowhere on the site where cover art of a pic is shown larger than 512 x 512 unless someone clicks on the art to enlarge it, which most people won't do.
