“It’s terribly dangerous for an artist to fulfill other peoples’ expectations. They produce their worst work when they do that.” - David Bowie

When Discord drops by the donut shop one morning, Joe is understandably nervous. When the draconequus keeps coming back, the baker soon realizes his life is better with Discord in it.

Discord comes to the same conclusion.

One of them just needs to admit it to the other.

Thanks to Mykola for the pre-read, Punished Bean for talking through a few sections, and to CrazyDiamond and everyone else for listening to me ramble on about this one.

Art combined by me from two sources.

A unique pairing indeed. The dynamics of this shop make it stand out, enough to keep you seated to see how things play out. I can tell this was done with a time crunch in mind, but that doesn’t take away from it necessarily. It’s a charming display of surprise affection between two beings who had otherwise never met before. Perhaps the chaos of that very idea is what carries it.

Well done!

You madlad!

(...I'll read later. )

This is genuinely adorable! Well done!

Aw, that was really sweet. Nice job making a crackship like this work so well!

Loved it! and that's true, if the writing's good enough, almost any ship has a leg to stand on.

A ship i wasn't expecting, now a ship that I love.
Great job!!

I can see the plaques wandering about. Good start to the story.

I enjoyed this, and at the same time I found it unsatisfying. There is almost no relationship building here, or if there is, it's all either offscreen or told, not shown. We don't even see what a day between them looks like after the first or before the last. What was written was a description of a relationship developing that's believable and fun to read about, but that never actually happens.

To put it another way: write more!

This was a surprisingly good and refreshingly fun read. Discord's characterization was spot-on and you did a great job of fleshing-out Donut Joe.

Thanks! It was certainly an experiment to write. I might come back to these two at some point if I get a good idea.

A beautiful crack ship done with earnest sincerity.
