Earth Ponies and their ability to create is almost a shout-out to how real-life horses and humans did the same thing.

I liked this fic. Short but sweet. Nothing amazing, but it doesn't have to be. Good work!
REALLY good job on this dialogue between Sandbar and AJ. Yeah, Sandbar thinking of all the abilities his friends has that he doesn't makes sense and is a good mirror concerning Applejack (who, while really good at what she does, doesn't have the telekinesis of Twilight or Rarity, the flying ability of Rainbow OR Fluttershy or even the Cartoon Physics of Pinkie Pie. On the other hoof, as she pointed out herself, she doesn't really NEED those abilities and neither does Sandbar). Applejack's points on the stuff earth ponies are capable of is downright beautiful.
Anyway, great short story and I'm definitely looking forward to more of your work.
It's a fair point. Most of the things Equestria is established as having would be of more benefit to the earth ponies than any pony else, which one could argue means that it's all an attempt to try and get the earth ponies up to the same level as all of the others...but I don't think that invalidates the point at all. Because the pegasi and unicorns already naturally have many of the abilities those things and services provide the earth ponies, they would have much less reason to try and develop them themselves.
So in a way, you could argue that its the earth ponies that are keeping Equestria inventing and progressing.
