They say the best way to learn a language is to actually use it, so each day I'll post a short story featuring a Chineighs word in place of an Equestrian one. This will be focusing on Pinyin as opposed to characters, because characters are a pain!

Why am I doing this? I didn't fail Chineighs class three times for naught! This will make me actually look at the "Chineighs word of the day" emails I've been getting for months now!

Well, this seems like it'll be interesting. Not sure how it'll help with grammar or verb conjugation, but it does seem like a fun writing exercise.

Earlier generations were more terrifying than I thought.

Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, the first time you see her

Excuse me sir but I do believe you may misunderstand what the term "top tier waifu" means.

7348019 Once you get it down, that's pretty simple. Chinese is actually pretty easy once you get past the way the phonemes are shaped entirely different than in English.

7348019 Chinese verbs don't conjugate actually, which makes things more than a bit easier. I probably should explain that somewhere.

7348246 this is a reference to one of the best Cadance stories in the fandom: The First Time You See Her, by Skywriter; it's part of a series though so start with the first book. They aren't that long and I extremely highly recommend them:

Gooni Ma!
Go Rude!

Bad words :trollestia: Shame on you Hillbe!:twilightoops:

you don't realy want to know....

7349961 Ding Hao! Read the 1st bit of 'The first time you saw her' :rainbowlaugh: Hao hao hao! good good good

7348537 They don't? :rainbowhuh: That would be awesome. A decent amount of the barrier to learning a language is keeping track of the subjunctive versus pluperfect versus whatever conjugations of all the verbs...

7351170 I'm an English tutor and even I can't explain tense, aspect, and mood. I know how to use grammar in my own writing or point out where it's wrong, but wish me luck trying to explain why.

• You

Aww… 謝謝!

7351170 No plurals for nouns, either:

(Traditional Chinese) 一個人 or (Simplified Chinese) 一个人 → (literally) one [measure word] person → (English) one person
(Traditional Chinese) 兩個人 or (Simplified Chinese) 两个人 → (literally) two [measure word] person → (English) two people

Although, as demonstrated above, there are measure words that Chinese learners have to worry about.

7408021 ah geez I forgot about those. Only ones I remember are ge and ben and shu.

Keep up the humor level and this could be good.

Ah... Scott Pilgrim... Glad I checked. My vague guess was going to be Littlest Pet Shop.

The object in question... Seems like you personally made that up rather than it being a reference to something? Closest I could find was this: https://www.av8n.com/physics/oscillator.htm .

Yeah, G1 was pretty hard-core. G2 had no cartoon, and many people want to forget the various ones associated with G3...

That was very sweet of you, thanks.

I like this concept.
I'll be there the whole way.
