Celestia is in despair. The future for her, her sister Luna, and the future of Equestria does not look bright. Prince Blueblood, always on the hunt to expand his power, has dug up an ancient law that dictates that not only should Princess Celestia take on the title and role of Queen of Equestria, she must either choose or produce an heir within a 6 month period of time or be forced to choose the most senior member of the royal family to succeed her. This member would be Blueblood as Princess Luna can only cover the duties of the moon. To Celestia all seems lost.
Until one night, she comes across a strange child in the Canterlot Gardens. The child is a human, all alone with no family to be heard of in Equestria.
Celestia, out of the kindness of her heart chooses to adopt the child as her own son and declares him her heir to the throne.
Now the young human must face the challenges of being the heir to an entire country while under the scrutiny of ponies like Blueblood and the care of ponies like his mother.

I'm going to note a cautious interested. Cautious, because, like you, I've seen a lot of stories play out a similar scenario but found myself not liking most of them.
Partly because I've felt many of the human characters were actually Jerk Gary Stues who never get called out on their behaviour, and partly because there's so often a nonsensical rivalry built up with Blueblood just so the human OC has an 'acceptable' target for their horrible behaviour. Your story definitely has the advantage of creating an understandable conflict; whether or not Blueblood will be more than just a foil and/or Hate Sink remains to be seen.
Personally , I wouldn't place Blueblood in the role of the main antagonist. Not that a story of this premise needs a main villain, it probably would be better as just telling the story of the child and what he goes through, how he grows. But mostly, Blueblood seems better fit as a one off antagonist, or a recurring minor annoyance, but I don't see him being a good main villain to an overarching plot. The concept of this story is what most intrigued me, so I'm hoping to see how/ if you are going to make a compelling story out of it. Good luck . ☺
