There was so sappy I'm hungering for pancakes now. In all seriousness though, this was super sweet. But I still think they would be AWESOME parents! I REALLY want to see them trying to change a diaper and all that other 'daddy stuff' they would need to learn how to do. One could be 'Father' and the other could be 'Dad' to the little one. I want to see that SO BAD, it hurts!
It just occurred to me, now that Troy has a consistent supply of meat, which is technically contraband, is there going to be an investigation followed by a scandalous headline?

This...really isn't good writing. It's clumsy and sounds awful.
Try "stretched a bit," "hummed," "hurling them both off the couch," and "slashing or cutting it up with his claws." They're actually doing an action, rather than making themselves do an action. How often do you breathe, rather than make yourself take a breath? All the time, right? Not only does it sound a thousand times better, but it also uses fewer words.
What a nice and warm story
Despite my strong feelings about the inappropriateness of the giving of pets as presents, you did it right. Yes Troy brought the puppy in, but they decided as a houshold whether it was a good idea.
Oh yeah, and the rest of the story was too bucking sweet!
