This story is a sequel to Brushed Away
Despite being one of the few Gryphons living in the land of Equestria, Troius Clawston couldn't be happier with how his life has been. Along with having good friends and a stable job in Weather Patrol, Troy is happiest about his life for one reason: Canvas, the Earth Pony artist that he saved and befriended, who grew to become so much more.
However, before the two can begin their lives together, Troy has to overcome a new challenge in his life. Something he never thought he would have to face until now...
Telling his family.
Because of strong Gryphon values which look down on alternative relationships, how will Troy's family react when they discover he's not only with someone of a different species, but of the same gender? As traditions clash with taboos, how will the Gryphon handle telling his brothers and parents, while still staying with the stallion he cares about? Can he keep everyone together, or will family bonds break under pressure?

also i must say, i really like the story cover art. let me preface by saying that i very much enjoyed the first part, but that cover art was, and i don't mean to be rude, simply awful. it was actually interfering with how i visualized the characters themselves. quite troubling indeed. so much better this one.

Finally starting to read this, great intro chapter to refresh on what happened in the last fic. I can't wait to read more since I love Troy and Canvas so much!

Yeah, I should clarify that Brushed Away isn't in the same universe as Unfamiliar Patterns. They're separate stories, and I don't really have any plans for a crossover involving them.
Three chapters in and I'm pleasantly surprised with how this is turning out. Your writing style has matured phenomenally from the beginning of Brushed Away, and I really love how Troy has a more masculine personality in this story. Truth be told, emotional breakdown and crying followed by passionate kissing gets bored after awhile. I'm hoping Troy grows a pair this time around. Canvas? Nah, he's already on bottom, anyways.

I'm trying to juggle this chapter with the last episode of season 5 of supernatural, so far it's been working. Though I fear I will get sucked into one or the other...
I need another cliffhanger like I need another hole in my head. Just please, when we get to a cliffhanger, don't let anyone jump off of it, I've already had at least 4 characters "die" by falling and we'll get another one on Christmas. (Doctor Who Christmas special)

Ooh, I never see any characters around that age in stories like these, especially griffons. I'm glad you did, though, since the perspective of a child is usually a lot more innocent and honest. Should put quite a spin on this.
