British, so be warned that I spell colour with a 'u'.

Fed up with his playcolt lifestyle, Prince Blueblood's parents decide to do something about it. Getting an honest job was out of the question, so instead he must woo and marry a suitable mare.

Blueblood is not pleased with this arrangement, but when he hears that the Elements of Harmony are attending the upcoming Grand Galloping Gala, he makes a plan to meet up with each one in the hope of finding a prospective life partner. A simple task, surely. What pony could resist him?

He was slightly reluctant to consider the earth ponies or pegasi, as unicorns were much more desirable in his world,

Oh, racist! :trollestia:

Good on Rarity for sticking-up for Spike. Blueblood, even when he's trying to be nice, is still an idiot. :rainbowlaugh:

Besides, he was not quite ready for Fluttershy getting involved with stallions. Especially not that sort of stallion.

Aw, Discord is totally jelly! :rainbowwild:

Good job on keeping everypony in character. A nice idea, and a lovely story.

You did keep them in character, well done.

I quite enjoyed reading this story! Everypony was very well in-character.

There were several parts that made me laugh; like Discord's little stunt or the way Blueblood just gave up on trying to talk to Applejack because he couldn't understand a word she was saying to him.

Nice job!

This is really good for a first

This is really good. I can only really find one thing to complain about, and that is that some paragraphs are too long. I had to mentally restrain myself from skimming through them. But otherwise, it was very nice.

I like that he didn't change.

This story wasn't really my cup of tea, but I can see that this is pretty well-written. Have a like.

Also, after that last scene, I must say I am now craving a PinkBlood fic.:pinkiegasp:

And so Blueblood learns nothing, and is prevented from reproducing.
:trollestia: Exactly as planned...

Pfft that guy doesnt know how to date. Loved it!

Pinkie, stop giving out epiphanies.

4840438 It's a good start, but I still hunger... :pinkiecrazy:

Twilight stared at him with her mouth open, then brought her hoof to face as if she were suffering from a particularly nasty headache. “That has to be...the sickest thing I have ever heard.”

Twilight, you are student to Princess Celestia, you can't be this dumb. You have to know that this is how the nobility works, even if just by standard reading, you lived in Canterlot, you were good enough to be admitted to a very powerful institution, before becoming Celestia's student.

This is how the nobility WORKED. Heck, Shining may not have been the most desirable in terms of nobility but he had major political clout by being the son of someone who could walk up and talk to Princess Celestia herself about their daughter, by being brother to a powerful unicorn being tutored who was being babysat by an Alicorn means he himself was good enough due to the familial relations he had.

The fact that you just got mad at him for telling you something you should honestly know, and insulted him for makes you seem very stupid because all he was doing was being honest about how noble marriage works and how he figured shining got close to Cadence. He wasn't being rude, he was just pointing out things you should honestly have figured out.

Very fun! I enjoyed how each meeting played out, as it fits logically with the characters themselves. His inability to follow Applejack's accent was especially great.

Well that's a pairing I've never seen before. I hope it is explored in future. I skimmed over the beginning, since it seemed to be playing out prettymuch as I expected it would, not exactly to my tastes (I'm kind of a hipster like that). The middle was good with Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy's sections being not what I was expecting (although I expected Applejack to have recognized him). The ending I'm mixed about: Blueblood comes to the right conclusion a little too readily in my mind, but as I said, it sets up an interesting idea and it shows that any change Blueblood undergoes isn't going to be easy, even knowing what he must do.

Well, I for one found Blueblood's suffering to be immensely cheering - on a night when I especially needed cheering, and to forget the world for a just a few minutes, most of all.

So, thank you for that, in particular.

Also, for introducing me to an entirely new sensation - being pleased to see Discord...

“Huh,” said Applejack, confused. “Don’t a pony like tha’ know proper English when he hears it?”

No Applejack, he doesn't. :ajbemused:

Best parts were:
Rarity being nice enough to give him a second chance, then insisting that Spike have his dance first, and finally dropping Blueblood when she saw that, nope, he's exactly what she thought he was the last time
Discord. Nopony messes with his best friend. Especially spoiled caddish prats.

Have you ever considered submitting this story to Equestria Daily? You can find out how to do so here.

5140378 I haven't until now, though based on your comment (and the kind comments of others) I have submitted it on a whim. I suppose I'll just sit back and see what happens.

>>ships PinkieBlood now

I can totally see Pinkie not being put off by Blueblood at all. I mean, she got Cranky the Donkey to be her friend, for Celestia's sake! Still, Blueblood/Applejack or BlueJack or AppleBlood whatever is the most amusing pairing. A farm pony and a prince. Haven't seen a good Blueblood/AJ fic yet.

Up above them, a certain draconequus lounged in the canopy of the trees, wearing a very smug grin. He did not like the look of that pony as soon as he had set eyes on him, and did not hesitate expressing his dislike. Besides, he was not quite ready for Fluttershy getting involved with stallions. Especially not that sort of stallion.

Welp, good luck getting past Discord, gentlecolts, griffons, or whoever wants to try it. All the clinginess of a child, plus the protectiveness and suspicion of a father. And no. You are not good enough for her.

At least he decided to change. That's a start.

*chuckles* Discord is definitely among the few who can really get the best of Blueblood. Rainbow Dash being the other, especially since I can't picture most other characters threatening to give Blueblood a black eye (though nearly all of them would imagine it XD). This story makes me wish Discord and/or Rainbow Dash had encountered Blueblood at least once during the series, but I don't mind Blueblood hardly showing up at all instead.

Not surprised by Discord's actions either, and not just because he's protective of Fluttershy. Even if he had never even heard of Blueblood before he obviously would never allow a member of the elite to try to win Fluttershy's heart and later marry. That would result in her moving to Canterlot (or Manehattan, depending) where there are fewer animals. Not a pleasant change of pace for her at all. Of course there's the chance of the member of elite not minding moving to Ponyville, but given what we've seen of them so far it's a very slim chance.

Once Discord is ready for Fluttershy to start dating, I'm betting he'd only allow stallion versions of her to ask her out. That is: kind, gentle, and into nature (doesn't have to be good with animals either; a farmer or gardener would do as well).
