Life was looking up for the reformed Lord of Chaos. He and his new pony bride had settled into Celestia and Luna's old castle, and they were looking forward to a life of peace and happiness. Until a letter arrives from a family member who had gotten word of Discord's recent marriage. In three days time, the one being in all of Equestria that Discord fears the most will be coming for a visit. Now Discord will have to 'pony up' to his new friends, and reveal the secrets of his origins, before his centuries of strife and misdeeds finally catch up with him.

I was going to post this in four parts, each about 25 % of the story as I wrote it, but as Reeve noted it does come off looking like one chapter is a quarter of a book long. I may still put multiple parts up at a time, but I will try to make them more reasonable in length. And when I'm finally finished I will put it into chapter format. As previously mentioned I'm new at this...
I only discovered that I was a Brony about three months ago, so it's like I came into the theater long after the movie started.
That being said, if anyone knows any 'must read' stories that I should check out, let me know.
I recommend one of the longest it is mature one but it it is the longest and one of the best in my opinion "diaries of a madman". I also recommend "the equestrian wind Mage" and the "Bride of Discord" Series both are in my top 5. Also great story If it keeps on going good I will probably fav it.

4795482 It's interesting that you should mention Bride of Discord. I came across Disney fanatic's audio drama on youtube three months ago. It was/is awesome. And is actually the inspiration behind this story. I'm holding off reading it, and her sequel, until the last audio chapter is finished. I pm'd her after episode 7, letting her know I was writing this, not as a sequel of any kind, but in it's own ponyverse. Hopefully she will find time to check it out. Okay. So the other day I was hard at work on part 8 (which eventually became part 9). Got around 1400 words done. Finished up the part about the giant spider. {Shudder}, I HATE SPIDERS! 4951060 I thought it might be an interesting explanation for the longevity of the royal family. There are so many unanswered questions in FiM canon, and I decided to try to see how much I could explain logically, one way or the other as the story progresses. It's one of the reasons I went back before G-1 to begin it. Cutie marks and Crystal Empire in upcoming installments. And a few other things I'm not ready to spoil just yet. But I will say that once Dis-Cordial returns, things should get ... interesting... oh yes.

I really need to stop writing long enough to make some decent cover art for this story. But if anyone has any artistic talent and wants to give it a shot, I wouldn't turn it down.

On another note, with 9 song parodies complete, and more on the way, I think I will rewrite my other story as a musical.
And with titles like "A Whole New Squirrel" (Whole New World parody), "Just Can't Wait To Eat Wings" (Can't wait to be king parody), and "The One Called Lulamoon" (Sailormoon parody), you can expect massive amounts of really bad puns.

5179691 I'm thinking two reasons, but I may be wrong. One is that I have little to no artistic talent and my cover art isn't good. (If anyone wants to take a shot at that I'd be welcome). The second reason may be because the first chapter starts with a reformed Discord and is sweet and sugary. (Which is okay for him now in the present, because my story was mainly intended to focus on all the things he's gone through to get to that point of redemption).
Perhaps the first part was too hard to swallow...
(Or conversely, it may simply be because I have no talent).

Okay. Now I can finally loosen my lips about a few things. As the Doctor confirmed, Twilight has indeed figured out what has really been going on. I've been dropping hints for quite a lot of chapters now. ;)
CDR made a point I have to concur with. The trouble with a looking back story is that everyone pretty much had to expect Discord to have done something to make Harmony angry in the first place. But has anything so far, been as it seems?
And as I mentioned once before, aside form a few tangents I go off on here and there, the entire story, including the ending, has been in my head from the start. I'm not doing a 'make it up as I go along thing', more of a 'write down as much as I can before I fall into an exhausted slumber from working all day', kind of thing.
Trust me, the BIG surprises haven't even been touched on yet...
On another note I've had a couple ideas for new stories after this one is finished, set in the same ponyverse. I'm seriously considering setting a Genosaji after Dan. Well a ponifeid Genosaji...

But after the initial idea was put in my head, I noticed a lot of similarities between Twilight's personality and the Doctor(s) in general, not so very much in Tom Baker's Doctor specifically, but in the Doctor taken as a whole. Believe me, my friend who writes solely Dr. Who fanfics is adamantly against him having a girlfriend/boyfriend at all. EVER. Let's just say that the nicest thing he said about this turn of events was 'no comment'.
All that being said, think about this. At some point in the near future Twilight is going to have to tell her friends about her new husband and daughter. A daughter that is almost Applebloom's age. Oh, and since none of them had been invited to the wedding, that isn't going to sit well either... or will it.
