There is a man sitting on a park bench, perusing a weathered book in his red right hand. He smiles at you, inviting you to share a tale. Share a laugh, recall your fears; regardless, he will listen.

After being given a link to a fanfiction, Lee Richards learns the hard way that he is a Silvertongue - a person with the rare gift of turning the written word into reality.

Apparently reading a fanfiction out loud can summon characters from them, so now he has to try and bring a certain unicorn back home. What could possibly go wrong?

Inspired by Dawn of the First Day, written by Miniscule Literary, Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, and OH GOD THE RAPTURE IS BURNING by DJay32, as well as various other works. Reader discretion is advised, and all outside works are the intellectual properties of their original authors.

This reminds me of Bioshock.. I love it! :pinkiehappy:

4357655 Yes, it is. I had thought to myself, "What would happen if, instead of books, a Silvertongue had read a fanfiction?", and from that question came The Curse of a Well-Read Man. While the actual characters from Inkheart aren't going to make an appearance, it originates in the same part of the multiverse.

I don't know what ink heart is. but I will take a look soon

Seems interesting...
I shall read this. Now.

Very interesting premise. I like your writing style, though there are a few little gripes I have about how some sentences are odly structured. Overall this chapter was a good read.

Dammit dude update!
(*sorry if this was recent)
and next door in...

6129608  Nice to see you enjoying my story so far! Don't worry, more is on the way.

6016804 Thanks, man (or madam:twilightsheepish:)! Seeing as Silvertongues are grossly underrepresented in the multiverse, I figured the concept would go over well. The real challenge in writing is living up to the potential of a good concept. Here's hoping I keep doing so.

This story gets too confusing sorry. Can't read it no more...

6482567 Well, what parts confuse you? I am going through to, ah, patch things up in the early chapters, so feedback is appreciated.

Mostly how fast the scenes go and then the last two chapters... Could just be me though:derpytongue2:

6484640 Yeah, the first chapters are still remnants of my 'fuckboy days' of writing. There's a quality gap that I'm trying to remove, but it will take time. I have Chapters 1 and 2 almost re-done, and the others are being tooled upon, but I'm holding off until after I finish the current arc (the Obamaverse) before I upload the fixed versions. And when I upload those fixed versions, it'll be all at once to avoid the confusion that comes with a gradual retcon.

I think that the 'obamaverse' is what either confused and or got me uninterested....

6485031 Hmm... could you PM me about that, then? About why the Obamaverse crossover garnered that reaction, I mean. Any feedback is appreciated.

6490418 yikes if you manage to get to my displaced universe a key in equestria I can see about helping lee. You might want to summon james del light by reading a passage of his story. A keyblade wielder of his caliber will be a big help.

6799751 Yes, I recognize it's bad as it is. Out of any other given chapter in this fic, I'm rewriting this one the most extensively.

This story is cool never would of thought that someone would of made a silver tongue story

7066660 That was part of my motivation to do this, actually. I thought, after reading the books and watching Inkheart, "Why aren't there more fanfics using this concept?" I looked all over FIMFiction, and while there were plenty of HiE stories, not one decided to use a Silvertongue. There were a lot of arguably more OP Displaced running about, getting into flipping wars and other crazy shit, and that was when I realized that no one cares if you have a gamebreaker on board so long as you tell a story.

So I set out to use the concept myself. As a result, here you have Curse of a Well-Read Man. (By the way, thank you for favoriting!)

:trixieshiftright: Okay... you have my attention, let's see how this goes.

I'm very glad to have caught your interest!

Bit of a warning, though, until I finish the Director's Cut of Chapter 8 [which is nearly complete at the time of writing this comment] that particular chapter nor the Interlude will make as much sense as they should. I apologize for that, and hope you bear with me.

Any day soon that this story continue?
