The rays consume my body as I scream out, yet I feel no pain from the power of the crystal heart. No, the only pain I feel is from the memories that pass through my mind, the memories of my life.

My god.

I love Sombra. I love how his character is in essence a blank slate for us in the fan base. How we can shape him to whatever we want.

And do you know why I love that?

Because I get to read such awesome background/origin fics about him. Like this one. Well done.

D'awww thanks! I kind of like it that MLP kept his background really minimal to the audience that way we can morph him into anything we want, really. He's so awesome I think we should have pony icons of him

...I love you more now...

But, yes, I agree with that completely. At least... That's what I like to think they intended.

I like to think that his background was too dark for the younger viewers that's why they didn't show it all completely...

Haha! I get the first view of the story!

EDIT:

Wait. Fuck, nevermind.

... You sure about that?

Also... Comment worthwhile, at least.

Good way of thinking, actually.

As evidenced by this fic, Serina has such a way with writing and manipulating emotions that I'm positive that, if she ever wrote a fic longer than eight thousand words, she could have me in tears.

In a good way.

LOVED this read! :yay: King Sombra was my favorite of all the villains to have premiered in the series thus far, partially due to the fact that he had the lingering, evil presence--that is to say, he FELT like a truly evil villain--and partially because since not much information was given to us on him, there is a lot that we can leave up to the creative imaginations of those of use who like him as to what sort of character development can be given to him.
I thoroughly enjoyed the rather megalomaniac voice you've given him in this story, and I find your take on his background rather interesting. I think this is the first time that I have seen someone actually give him a background story in which he actually WAS the crown prince and heir to the Crystal Empire, as well as an actual victim of circumstance. Not to mention, I also appreciate the fact that you have him self-taught in the ways of magic. Very well done, and nicely written with an ominous sense of foreboding there at the end! Hope you don't mind, but I'll be watching you from now on. I look forward to more of your work!

Maybe over winter break.... Right now, I have to write a 6 page research paper for English and I only feel like writing short one shots. :twilightblush:
And yes, I do have a few stories that have made people say I broke their tear ducts.... :derpyderp2:

D'aww thanks for the watch and the great comment! I love when my readers enjoy my stories!!!! :raritystarry:

I got on here to comment on one of my own stories and ended up reading this instead. Not bad

Thanks!!! Glad you enjoyed it! :derpytongue2:

Have you ever considered submitting this story to Equestria Daily? You can find out how to do so here.

Sorry, one-shots have to be over 2,500 words to be submitted. But I'm honored you'd recommend it! :pinkiehappy:

This is an absolute masterpiece, I must say. I love the idea of how he felt forced to use dark magic in order to protect the kingdom. In a twisted way, I can relate... But the difference with me is that I studied good things alongside darker feelings. Now I'm getting really deep and emotional, don't mind me.

Point is, I absolutely love this short story. Thank you for recommending it. ^.^

As I read, one quote instantly comes up in my mind in this is

The road to hell is paved with good intentions

not bad just needs some editing. A misspelled word here, and there and a few punctuation errors, but still enjoyable.

That was amazing

I like this story

As I see it in this story King Sombra is a "Anti-Villain" as his intentions are good but how he caries those intentions out are evil.

And that evil lead to his own death at the claws of Spike and the hoofs of Cadance.
