You think you know what happened? You think it was the shovel? You're wrong.

I have a confession to make.

A child prodigy, a stallion running out of space, agents on a mission, a mage at the height of her power, a farmer in search of a new beginning, and a pony that just wants to keep her secrets buried. The caretaker who watches over them all.

Empty roadways after dark, lit only by the pale moon and distant lights. Living rooms void of furniture and life, with only ghosts lingering where warmth once was. Supermarkets with full shelves, and distant songs playing overhead with the hum of electricity flowing through the air. Places where life should be, but isn't. Places where you can't help but feel that you do not belong.

Ponies that have nothing and everything in common, in places that wear familiar faces but are haunting all the same. In a world beyond space and time, the tower teaches them the lessons they must learn.

This a tale of liminal spaces, twists of fate, and a tower that looms over everything and everypony below. It will update twice a week until it is complete, usually on Tuesday and Thursday. Strap in for a long ride.

Octavia Melody is looking for a better life. Octavia Melody is, if she's being honest with herself, looking for any kind of life at all. Any glimmer of hope in a world that is quickly losing such a light. Octavia Melody has recently moved to Ponyville and the fates have gifted her a beacon of sunshine in the form of... Strawberry Sunrise.

Red is the color of Cherry Berry's life. She doesn't mind all that much.

Applejack still isn't talking to Strawberry Sunrise, but this unfriendly attitude of hers can't last. Every time she catches a glimpse of Strawberry while out at the Ponyville market, she's reminded of that day. Amazingly, they both decide at nearly the exact same time to make up with one another, and despite thoroughly disliking them, Strawberry Sunrise is even willing to share an apple just to make amends.

Since the two of them are also completely alone, and find themselves in an apple tree of all things, she's also even more tempted to offer Applejack an affectionate smooch.

As Strawberry's condition worsens, Applejack resolves to do one last thing.

 Life is like picking cherries, but there was so much more to her than just cherries. Cherry Berry found herself losing herself in the beautiful horizon above her, wondering what it would be like to fly away from the troubles of the world.
