Hello and welcome newcomers to the Elemental School for the Defenders of Equestria, a new combat school that trains the next generation of defenders against the dreaded creatures of darkness. But when the new batch of trainees arrive strange things began to happen, what does that mean for the school and why is the weirdness focused on the new team from Ponyville.

On a clear spring night in Ponyville, when the chirping of early cicada and flutter of dandelion seeds gives way to the lovesong of crickets and the tantalizing elixir of jasmine and lilac, one can see clear to the spires of Canterlot high above. These are nights without fear, where boogeymen take the evening off to play at hackey sack in the thickets, and foals leave their bedroom windows open to giggle away their thoughts of tomorrow while the warm breeze kisses their cheeks goodnight.

On one such night, He who is called Regret stabs a restless mare deeply. With the help of a motherly friend, she will confront Him once and for all.

#1 was chosen for this story due to a fondness by the author. #2 was chosen because the author frequently sings it as a lullaby, too.

Atlas, Discord and Starswirl have safely arrived in the newly founded Equestria. The ponies that came before them already built up quite a few flourishing cities, setting aside their differences and living together in harmony.

Close to one such newly founded town, Atlas built what he personally insists on calling a "secret lab" where he conducts research and experiments to gain a better understanding of runic magic. Assisted by his adopted son Discord and his scholarly friend Starswirl, they'll have to recreate this lost art if Atlas wants to be prepared for the foretold showdown between the greek gods. All while keeping an eye out for the events that are supposed to bring the true Equestria into existence.

This sequel story will focus mostly on Atlas' research into runes and the timeline that is known to him. Therefore I've decided to replace the adventure tag from the last story with slice of life, although there might still be some adventure-y chapters.

Kenneth is your average everyday person, all up until he was tossed off a boat and into an insane asylum. Unable to speak nor learn their language, ken decides to stick by the only two ponies that he can communicate with. Just when things are starting to look up, and the ponies start to grow on him, reality throws one last curve ball his way.

One lovely day, Twilight opens her Sunshine Book, the one that lets her talk to her Canterlot High friends. She's halfway through reading the increasingly urgent backlog from her most recent adventure when the Cutie Map in front of her sends all six of them through the mirror! Why all six? What is Discord doing in Sunset's world- and What's this Sunset's saying about a giant tank?

Rewrite in place beginning 9/23/18; chapters 9+ (if present) can be assumed part of the rewrite. All before, if rewritten, will be labeled as such. Rewrite completed 9/27/18, all chapters are fresh.

While pouring over the town's taxes, Twilight Sparkle notices an anomaly in Applejack's returns, deciding to confront her about it. Needless to say, backcountry traditions and consumption tax-dodging don't sit too well with the Princess of Friendship.
