A long, long time ago, the necromancer Grogar conquered the city of Tambelon for his own nefarious purposes. Working together, the princesses Celestia and Luna were able to banish Grogar and the fallen city into the realm of Shadow, never to be seen again...or so they thought.

Two thousand years later, Tambelon and Grogar return - and the world may never be the same...

Corona Rises!

Celestia and Luna thought their first day at the Seaward Shoals retirement home would be normal. They never expected to see Grogar of all characters there. The two alicorn sisters are quite surprised to learn what he's been up to in the past thousand years since Gusty the Great took his bell.

A lot has changed since Tirek's first reign of terror, and he didn't have time to absorb the culture last time he was free.

He's still not sure he can absorb it now.

Being the smart one in a group of pony-hating creatures was a tough task for a little filly such as herself, but Cozy Glow was certain she had it handled. She just needed to sweet-talk them into seeing how much they needed her wits, and then make them like her enough to want to protect her from harm. That would be super easy.

The hard part was doing that while avoiding being singled out as a potential threat by Grogar, their clearly unhinged leader.

Ahh the finale, what trip. But a few things were left unanswered. Where was the real Grogar? Why was Cozy evil? Why wasn't Discord punished for nearly ruining everything?

Fed up with Tirek's, Cozy Glow's, and Chrysalis' bickering, Grogar realizes that the only way that he'll be able to get through to them is by having them listen to a motivational speaker. Using his powerful magic, Grogar summons a motivational speaker from an alternate world. The good news is he succeeds; the bad news is that he summons the one speaker who lives in a van down by the river.

Grogar's ancient machinations finally come together as he leads the Legion of Doom against Canterlot. Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow want to rule for themselves, however, and intend to betray him as soon as it's convenient. Can Applejack, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash save Equestria?

Author's note: I decided to rewrite episodes S9E24 and S9E25 as if Grogar were real and the finale were a four-parter. This story takes everything up to and including S9E23 as canon, and took inspiration from a huge variety of sources, including the finale trailer (though it does not strictly hold canon to the trailer).
