Spike is invited by Smolder, to the Dragon Lands for the annual two week holiday. At first Spike is anxious yet excited to spend time with his dragon friend but when he overhears Smolder telling others that he isn’t “dragon material”, he starts to consider backing out leading to a HUGE argument between them. Will Spike’s anxiety get the better of him? What exactly is going on with Smolder? What is she hiding? Will their friendship remain soaring or go up in smoke?

This story explores the complex yet inspiring friendship between Spike and Smolder, and their emotional self-doubts. I don’t think this will be canon since this will take place before Garble is revealed to be Smolder’s sister to Spike and couple days are after Sludge abandoned Spike.

The part where Smolder explains about diet was inspired by "Smolder, the Dragon Tutor" by Smart Mouth

Maybe it started when Twilight stumbled on another one of her grand explanations, raising so many questions she for once held no answers, maybe withheld. Or perhaps how Rarity cut to the chase and let him know it wasn't happening. But probably when the Guard came a-knockin', looking for himself and his self alone. Maybe maybe maybe… Whatever it was, it doesn't matter now. Spike moved past youthful fury and what had been its seemingly bottomless font of vindication, now he’s in the big leagues and only wishes he had the problems of yesterday.

A single, thickly scaled claw of a digit fell upon the button, the voice recorder hummed to life, a crystal gleaming as its red light blinked to its own beat. Spike let out a sigh before he began, "I never meant for things to end up like this… but if I'm being honest with myself, l never planned anything, never stopped to think. I'd like to blame it on being a dragon, but I'm not even that, just some carnival trick. I might as well be honest with you too, whoever you are. I don't know how this story's gonna end, but that's fine by me 'cause I write my story how I want, maybe this one never ends..." A few moments of silence were followed by a chair loudly scraping, falling over, and then all at once the sound of activity exploded back into the room. This was the atmosphere heard until its power went out.

2019 was a rough year for me. Outside of continual lack of blind-friendly software to use at my job, I also had to have my right eye physically removed. Then the ever-dwindling accessibility of my work software with my JAWS Screen Reader caused me to have a series of panic attacks coupled with physical manifestations of anxiety through muscle pain in my neck, shoulders, and arms.

As you'd guess, I had ideas I wanted to write but just couldn't bring myself to it. It is during these times I turned to Fabulous Diva Rarity.

Ms. Rarity took my ideas and made them into cheerful works that helped me feel so much better as I muddled through the 2019 struggles. I hope, in reading these, you can feel a bit more happiness, too. :)
