The Promise Continued

“U-uuhhh,... D-Discord? Are you… d-doing okay?”

“But of course! It’s my wedding day! Why wouldn’t I be?”

“W-Well,...”

Spike gestured with a shaky, blue claw towards to the now frozen, snow covered garden. A garden that belonged to Fluttershy, right beside her cottage. Or rather, it will soon belong to both her and Discord. The cottage and sanctuary will soon belong to the married couple as well. That is, if a wedding could take place since the wedding ceremony’s audience were now trapped in ice cubes.

Discord’s eyes widened at this sight. He was so overwhelmed by his own worries, thoughts, and feelings that he failed to notice that his magic acted upon the emotions swirling inside him. Not only was the ceremony a winter wonderland, and the guests were its ice statutes, but even the masters of this ceremony, The All Mighty Princess of Equestria Twilight and The Princess of the Crystal Empire Cadence, were trapped in ice.

Spike, now tall and lean due to the passage of time, was shivering in his colorful best man’s suit. His cold claw was now pointing Discord towards his feet, which he soon discovered with a gasp, that there were frozen in a conjoining block of ice.

“Ah! What the-! Now how in the world did this happen?” Discord exclaiming, before quickly snapping his fingers.

With this snap, the snow and ice were gone. All the wedding guests were free. Spike was no longer suffering from the cold atmosphere.

The audience was small, as his soon to be wife requested. As much as Discord wanted a large, lavish, almost party like wedding, Discord knew that such an atmosphere would not fit perfectly with Fluttershy. He wanted her to feel as comfortable at her own wedding as possible. And the best place that had always made her comfortable was their home: her cottage.

And so, they only invited the Mane Six, Spike, Starlight and all the teachers at the School of Friendship, the Student Six, the dearest students of Fluttershy, her family and the families of the Mane Six, the now elderly and mortal Celestia and Luna, Shining Armor and the now pre teen Princess Flurry Heart, the animals, and their closest friends from the other kingdoms like the dragons, the changelings, the kirin, the yaks, etc.

While standing under the wedding arch, made from all the chaotic and mysterious flowers and plants grown in Discord’s dimension, Discord fiddled with his tight black bow tie. The colors on his suit, working like a mood ring and swirling about like a lava lamp, changed from a snowy blue to that of a swirling dark blue and purple.

“How in the world do you loosen these things?” Discord groaned, feeling like he could choke at any moment.

“Here, let me help you.”

While Spike loosened his bow tie, Discord pondered, “How come my magic just frozen everything like that? It’s never disobey me. Not like this. It usually does it on purpose and I’m part of the joke. I’m in on it. But this,... it’s like my magic doesn’t even know what it’s doing.”

Spike, Cadence, and Twilight couldn’t help but chuckle.

“What? What’s funny?”

“Discord,” said Twilight with a smile, “Don’t tell me that you’ve never heard of cold feet before?”

“I have,” Discord protested ignorantly, “Well,... maybe,... only once… okay, okay! I’ve never heard it before. What is it? Is it a disease? Is this a prank? Is Rainbow’s and Pinkie Pie’s doing?”

“It’s just an expression that means a groom is nervous on his big day,” explained Cadence.

“Really? That’s all?” Discord cocked his head in confusion, “Oh well, that certainly doesn’t apply to me. I never get nervous.”

“Dude,” interrupted Spike, finishing with the loosening of Discord’s bow tie, “your feet literally turned cold and froze themselves into a block of ice. Not to mention, the, um, change of seasons just a few seconds.”

“Puberty has made you far too sarcastic and cheeky, my boy,” Discord delivered in a dry and cynical tone.

“It’s okay Discord,” reassured Cadence, “All grooms get this way, no matter how confident they are. It’s perfectly natural. Being nervous on your wedding day doesn’t mean you’re not excited on getting married. It just means you want the day to go perfectly, I mean, perfectly imperfectly.”

“Nice save pink one,” Discord teased with a wink.

“Cadence is right,” Twilight commented, “it’s okay to be nervous. Just remember to breathe and before you know it, the wedding will start.”

“But, I’ve been standing here for ages! When is it going to-”

Before Discord could say another word, the music started and significant figures began to walk down the aisle. Spike gave Discord a salute and smile, in order to join with the other best men and bridesmaids. Discord’s suit began to swirl the colors of light purple, light pink, and white.He bit his lip and played with his cufflinks.

The first to walk down were Pinkie Pie and Trixie. Pinkie Pie, along with Applejack, Rainbow, and Rarity, had the honor of being both Fluttershy’s bridesmaids and one of Discord’s best men. So, she wore both a colorful suit jacket and a soft pastel bridesmaid dress. While Trixie, just wore a colorful best man suit. Trixie was struggling to keep up with Pinkie’s bouncing, silently regretting into agreeing to be one of Discord’s best mares.

Pinkie entered into the scene, like she always does, with bursts of confetti coming from her mini party cannons. Trixie shouted and dodged the blasts of confetti coming from behind. Her little foal, Lil’ Cheese, and Cheese Sandwich waved at Pinkie excitedly and she of course waved back with the same amount of excitement.

After Pinkie Pie and Cheese, there was Rainbow Dash and Thorax. As much as Rainbow wanted to trot as fast as she could down this aisle, just to see how fast her speed walking was, she knew that Thorax could keep up. Even with those long legs. Plus, it was Fluttershy’s big day and she could save her speed walking tests for another day.

After that, there was Applejack and Big Mac. Big Mac was struggling when it came to staying emotionally strong and holding back his tears. Applejack, like a good sister, kept telling her brother silently “There, there” and patted his foreleg as they walked down the aisle. Sugar Belle waved at them with a soft smile. And as Big Mac waved back, he couldn’t hold back his tears and openly sobbed.

After the two apple siblings, there was Rarity and Spike. Rarity used a levitation spell in order to keep up in pace, tempo, and height of Spike. Spike, just let Big Mac, couldn’t help but cry as well as he walks down the aisle. Maybe not as emotional as Big Mac, but these happy tears were noticed and Rarity offered silently her hankie. Spike took this with a thankful nod and blew his nose.

After Rarity and Spike, there was Starlight and The Smooze. Starlight wore a colorful best men’s suit, while The Smooze wore a colorful top hat and bow tie. The big green blob could barely fit within the aisle with Starlight. Discord had to make sure to remove any shiny objects from the guests or the ceremonial area. Not to mention, all the measure he took to make sure that his “college buddy” could eat any shiny objects prior to the wedding. Discord felt bad for Starlight as she nervously walked along with The Smooze. She hadn’t any much experience with him compared to the girls and Spike. Discord mentally noted to repay Starlight later.

Discord’s heart began to race and cartoonishly pop out of his chest as he witnessed the flower girls and the ring bearer walk down the aisle. Even heart shaped blobs of red and pink took place within his lava lamp like suit. The CMC, with a smile and with grace, decorated the air and aisle with fragrant petals. Truly embodying the mares that they have become, and far from the fillies they used to be. Even though, they were too old to do this task, they had promised their foal sitter to be her flower girls someday. Well, that someday had come.

Discord was shocked to find Angel walking down the aisle with a soft yet proud smirk on his face as he carried the ring pillow with pride. He was expecting the little devil to be grumpy, moody, and just a party pooper. But instead, the rabbit looked at the draconequus straight in the eye and gave him an approving nod. Discord’s eyes lifted with interest and he smirked back. Then, he nodded in response.

The song had began. This was it. The march, the entrance, at last Fluttershy was coming. Discord’s pupils formed into hearts when he saw her, his ears wiggled with joy, his heart was pounding and racing at the speed of light and left his chest literally. His heart galloped into the distance and let out a powerful neigh as it did so. While the audience was taken aback by such a chaotic display, Discord paid no mind. He didn’t even noticed. All of his attention was on her.

There she was. Kissing her mother and brother, and lending her hoof to her father. Then, she turned her loving eyes towards his. As soon as he captured her gaze, it didn’t matter to him how beautiful her dress was… or how lovely her mane was… or any of that… no, what made her beautiful to him was the amount of love held in her eyes. The fact that she wanted to spend her life with him. The fact that she wanted to share this home, this garden, and the sanctuary with him. The fact that she loved and appreciated all that he is, the good and the bad and the chaotic. The fact that she cared so much about him. It was beyond words.

Such a gaze… such a wonderful gaze… made Discord feel light.

Both metaphorically and literally. In fact, he wasn’t the only one floating off the ground. Everypony was! They weren’t floating too high, just only about a foot or two off the ground. But still, everypony was certainly surprised to find themselves magically leviating. Even for those who have wings, it was an experience. The only one was not struggling with this change, but instead sweetly giggling about it, was Fluttershy.

“This,” Discord mentally declared, “this is why I want to marry you.”

Discord’s lovestruck grin grew as he observed Fluttershy guide her father through the air and to the arch. As her father was leading her hoof to Discord’s claw, he gave the groom a tear filled yet joyous expression. And this made Discord feel even lighter. In all his days, he had never thought he could earn such acceptance from a pony like her father. Fluttershy’s father kissed her on the cheek before returning to his wife and son.

As soon as the couple held each other’s hooves and claws, the world just faded away to them. The audience was gone, the ceremonial speeches of Twilight and Cadence were nothing but white noise to them. It wasn’t until the two alicorns pointed the loving couple on the shoulder and some chuckling from the audience did the couple remember to exchange vows.

Angel lifted the pillow to Discord and when Discord magically lift the rings from the pillow, the rings transformed into large and beautiful glowing blue flowers. As they exchanged vows, Discord placed one of the flowers into her mane; while Fluttershy, she placed the other flower on his antlers. Once she did so, the one big blue flower transformed into multiple little blue flowers that lived on green, glowing vines that is now wrapped around his antlers.

Just like their love, these flowers will never die and will remain as fresh and new as spring.

“We now pronounce you…” Twilight started.

“Husband and wife,” Cadence finished.

“You may kiss the bride!” Pinkie exclaimed, popping up from behind the two princesses.

Before Twilight and Cadence could actually proclaim the same thing and correct Pinkie, the couple immediately embraced one another. But as they did so, a great earthquake shook Ponyville and the sky began to open in multiple areas and spots around town. Especially around Fluttershy’s house, the garden, and the sanctuary. The sky was creating portals, but not just any portals, but gateways to Discord’s dimension.

When the couple slowly parted from their kiss, everypony floated back to the ground. Shaken from the mayhem that was unleashed upon the small village. Everypony was shaken, that is, except the newly wed Duchess and Lord of Chaos. They were too busy looking into each other’s eyes and embracing one another.
